Kristen is a psycho that set all this up, but you're telling me Sami wouldn't have shot John (someone with whom she had issues going back decades) in order to seek out EJ (the love of her life)? This is Samantha Gene we're talking about.

Ten years ago possible, now I do not think so

I get it; she loves John now, but she loves Will too and she literally turned a psycho loose on him.  Sami isn't above her own unhinged behaviour.

Well I wish Eric would take responsibility for redirecting that gun

Yes, that's another thing: for DECADES, soaps were far ahead of primetime TV in terms of dealing with topical, adult, current issues. Viewers expected and even embraced sophisticated stories based on mature themes. Then, somewhere along the line, TPTB seemed to be afraid of offending ANYONE about ANYTHING, and the shows turned to pablum. Once we were mesmerized by Ruth Martin on AMC railing against the senselessness of war, Bert Bauer  on TGL dealing with uterine cancer, Chris Brooks on Y&R surviving a horrific rape, Pat Matthews on AW having TV's first illegal abortion.. Later, we were forced to endure mad scientists freezing the world, evil geniuses using brain implants, clones aging rapidly, time-travelling matrons jumping into paintings or travelling back to the old west, Satanic possession, and more stupidity than we could shake a stick at. How are we supposed to remain emotionally involved in soaps and find them relevant, when their stories became akin to those found in 1930s' silent film shorts? I don't think viewers abandoned the soaps as much as...the soaps DROVE us away, by refusing to give us what we wanted, decade after decade.

Very well said.

Something seemed to change with the soaps after OJ. It's like they became desperate and just started writing nonsense. I'm making it more basic than it was, but there's a clear shift.

I also think the switch from how they used to film the shows to now makes them look really cheap. They looked like actual shows with a budget the other way. I don't get why they switched.

Sami does things first and thinks about them later. She's a "hot mess" as the kids call it ;) I think Ron has Sami pretty in-character.

It's also clear the Belle/Sami slap and confrontation was likely planned for Carrie and Sami. The way some of it was worded all I could picture was Carrie lighting into Sami. (They wanted Christie/Carrie there but she was traveling the world with her family)

What I like about Ron is that he wasn't a "true fan" of DAYS before. It sort of worked against him at first as he got his bearings, but I feel a change. I think he gets the show. He seems to get Kristen and Sami. I've loved Kristen's dialogue. I'm mixed on Stacy playing Kristen but she has totally won me over as Susan and I want her to stay in that role. Eileen needs to be Kristen. Not saying Stacy isn't doing great. She's a great recast!

Back to my point, Ron doesn't really have any character biases (though he seems especially fond of Sami, Kristen/Susan and Marlena and I'd guess Kate since she keeps getting story after story). I don't feel like I did with Higley and Tomsell where they were almost writing against what the show should be. They had their biases and agendas. I don't feel the same with Ron and Sheri and Ryan. It's nice. I'm not saying the show is perfect. It's not. But I feel comfortable with the hands it is in.

Catching up on episodes and I am on last Thursday episode...and Chandler Massey in one hot hunk!

Can Sonny drink himself into oblivion? Gawd...how annoying....

Out of all the things Chandler's Will would remember is his non wedding to Sonny.....ugh.......the wedding that never happened.....didn't move me at all since it didn't happen and I don't want Will with Sonny.

I can't be the only one cheering Belle on when she finally served Sami the cold hard truth about herself.

I loved it.

I'm not really feeling SH as Kristen. She was fine as Susan but nobody can play Kristen except Eileen.

I love that Marlena is being taken to surgery while still in full makeup.

And not a single hair out of place.

I also love the entire family got about 15 to talk to a woman who needed to be in surgery immediately in the middle of the hospital waiting room

LOL. But that's soaps for you. All the soaps do this or have done it. It's always been so unrealistic but it's a soap. lol.

I haven't watched the last two days, just because I'm saving them up for a binge. I read a recap and comments of yesterday and it sounds a bit of a mess. Who wrote the dialogue?

I noticed Marlena didn't have an IV drip.

Wow, DAYS doesn't have enough money even for a fake IV drip!

I don't think the dialogue was that bad.  John, Sami, and Will were all decent.  Belle was awful, but even Kristen wasn't bad.

All the money was spent on Dee Hall's perfect hair and makeup.

That's good. Just saw mixed reactions and it seemed maybe the episode didn't flow very well. I'll have to watch ;) lol

And  at the last part

All the money went to pay Sweeney ;)
