I think she's kind of funny, but the media push for her lately feels more and more like tokenism and is very patronizing. The various (white) columnists saying she should have hosted this year and must host next year - if she does, they will rip her to shreds.

You seem shocked.  I'm sure the next time a black person gets an Oscar for Best Acting, it will be Halle Berry - the weakest in the bunch.  Or a dark skinned person will win Supporting but never the lead!  I don't watch awards shows, and thank goodness!

I've always thought Garner was so hollow - the epitome of the safe and focus-group tested "star" (likely one of the reasons none of her work was ever a tenth as successful as it was supposed to be). It was odd seeing her almost human.

(I don't know if you saw it but I put a Twitter link to part of an old Hart to Hart comic strip in the nightly thoughts thread)

I'm not, but I apologize if I came across that way.

I didn't know who she even was until this morning!  And now...?  I wish I had remained ignorant.

Totally. Leslie hosting the BET Awards last year was painful to watch. So much mugging. I saw that as someone who found Robin Williams intolerably manic even as I recognized his talent (and his impressions were often spot-on). But it’s hard out there for black comedians.

    • Just because Taggert is so anti Sonny I don't see that working for Lois. I agree with all this.   I still thought Harrington was decent.  He was just completely wrong for the role.  Weirdly being hung up on Karen and Stone was a strange choice too.  They've been dead for years and years and he wasn't married to Karen when she died in a car accident and didn't even show up to Stone's funeral.
    • Wagger was so bizarre. I still don't care about that dude and I knew what would happen to him from the beginning. But it is crazy they pretend like it didn't matter Sonny stone cold killed a fed. I'm sure they will pick it up in a year or two to try to save face and make it important for some other plot point, like how they forgot all about Austin, Nikolas shooting Hayden and letting Shawn take the fall, etc. He was mediocre and folks acted like he was Douglass Watson because of that one Mulcahey speech! The answer here is the same one to anyone who is familiar with Donna from BITD: She implicitly believes she unofficially works here and has a position of authority in fandom. She does not.
    • I would much rather see Lois with someone young and exciting over being with Taggert.  Rick Webber Jr or have a scandalous affair with Dillon Quartermaine.  Tracy would lose her mind.
    • Well, of course, it's unlikely. But in the what-if fantasy world, I wonder if the actors/characters would work well together.
    • I was thinking at some point down the line the show might bring Stone Jr. (2.0?) to PC and avenge his father's unsolved murder or something. I don't know who that Jagger was either.  Strange casting.  The actor was all wrong for the part even if I thought Adam Harrington could act.
    • And that was absolutely delicious. And well-plotted.
    • How funny to see the name Taggert as I drop in because I was just thinking that isn't this month or next two years since his last appearance? Well, was his last appearance when he broke down in the elevator over Trina's parentage?
    • This. That. Love the phrasing. That said, IMO, Jagger ain't dead. Much respect to the actor portraying him, but blonde John was not Jagger. I don't know who that impostor was.
    • LMAO. I'm OK with Jagger being gone and never mentioned again. Adam J. Harrington wasted.
    • I believe they would have to recast if so.  Trina completely forgot about her father that raised her so it seems unlikely.
