I totally forgot this piece of JDP trivia. (GH related, I promise!)

In 1998, there was a book released in honor of OLTL's 30th anniversary. In it, JDP talked about how mom when his mom first came to California from Germany, she became a fan of all the ABC soaps--they are a big reason she learned to speak English. As a result, he would often watch them with her, too, and when they would visit the Bay Area, she would often drag Jim along with her so they could both meet them. The specific soap star he mentioned that his mom dragged him to their local mall to meet? Richard Dean Anderson.

So, if he DOES, in fact, play Jeff Webber, I guess that was a moment of foreshadowing for his future!

RDA is only 7 years older than JDP and BH looks a good decade younger than she is, I don't see a problem.

I'm happy he's working, only because I like KDP so much. I never thought he was anything special but the Max I know was from long after his most prominent years.

He'd better not be Max. Look, I get the soap pool has shrunk to the size of a bathtub and soap work is soap work, but OLTL is over. Done. James DePaiva? Fine if he comes to GH but cast him either as a new character or as the aforementioned Dr. Jeff Webber, an actual GH character with history that has been gone long enough to put a new stamp on him.

But FV and ABC and stupid Nathan Varni need to stop with the freaking ABC Super Soap crap.

I'm the biggest JDP fan ever and I feel the same way. I do feel a ton of guilt about him being on GH, though, if that makes you feel better. I know your fatigue on this issue is pretty damn big.

I'll still dodge tomatoes to defend JDP on the show, though, because I'm selfish and happy to see him again.

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.
