It's very odd how they cast a kid who is clearly visually black for Charlie though. Is that actor even biracial? That tells you all you need to know for how their stories will progress for the next 15 years at least. They are another Lily and Devon. 

 

I really wonder what CK thinks of this. That girl has a very mature look and demeanor. I could buy her as a 22 year old. In 3 years, if she's still around, she will end up getting the story that should be CKs while CK gets to play matriarch and matron...AT THE AGE OF 32. 

 

 

I didn't start watching soaps for teen stories either. It was the young adults that drew me in. The 20 somethings. 

Yes I take it you missed the All Mixed up pilot I posted. I brought up the same point about their casting on another board and was told by LAME fans to stop making everything about race.

I can't even believe Lane fans are supporting this. I promise you, if this girl is even semi succesful, TPTB will put lily and CK out to pasture. They might succeed in killing the character afterall.

Who knows?  That might be part of TPTB's plan: SORASing Charlie and Maddie in order to push CK out the door, either through killing off Lily or forcing a recast.  #wishfulthinking

Probably a recast. But how does that effect KSJ? 40 year old Lily when he's barely 50 himself.

This is more soap colorism bs.  They do the same ish with latino characters by casting white non latinos with dark hair so they can play them off as diversity while still feeling comfortable writing for white people. Or their token latinos will have children with white characters that come out blonde haired and blue eyed and they'll just cast a white actor. Because you know its so hard to find  actors/actresses with that type of mix. 

 

Shoot they can get rid of Lily and push so called diversity without offending the racist few with this casting.

It's pretty common to see parent/child whose actors are about a decade apart on soaps

I agree. I just find it interesting that they white washed the female but didn't do so for the male. I assume its cause the female will be paired up with white guys while the male will not be with the white  females. 

They may just be aging them  to add to conflict about a "Lame" breakup.  There are way more former characters' children I would have used.

If so, that's very short sighted. 

 

Another thought. I wouldn't be surprised if the boy is killed somehow to create conflict for the girl and reed's romance.
