How much time do we give Sally Sussman before we ask for her firing?

Actually it doesn't - if anything, it encourages me to check out if I think the story might be interesting. If not for day-aheads, I probably wouldn't tune in at all. Even though I disliked Pratt's inability to create successful long-term stories, at least stuff was happening. I REALLY want to watch again, but shows like Monday (U.S.), which I watched are painful - Ravi with his stalker-like Valentine's obsession and the extremely drawn out Cane/Jill scenes = there's no reason why we had to wait to :25 minute mark to hear Jill's obvious answer to Cane, etc.

And all of those issues? They don't really bother me, personally. I agree with you on reading the day ahead. I wouldn't call the Ravi scenes painful at all. JMO.

The Jill/Cane stuff I could have done without. It's always nice to see Jill but Cane whining left me cold. I don't feel sorry for you.

Lord knows how vocal I was about moRon, but I'm a bit anxious to see how he does without Frank over his shoulder. I believe Ron has only been HW under Frank and Frank is the most incompetent EP there ever was (Spare me about how he's [not]a budget guru).  Frank forces characters played by his friends on viewers as well as HWs and fires them when they can't fit squares into small round holes.  Ron will have a chance to show what he can do and I want to see it.

Problem is that he will be working under Corday...and he is known for playing favorites, etc as well.

Frank stayed under budget, but the amount he saved was given to other soaps (AMC...always over budget, but it still looked like a quality production when it went off the air the 1st time)..and the sets on OLTL and GH look flimsy and cheap.

Ron fairly uncensored was often what we got with Frank, at least in much of the early years at OLTL and IMO a good portion of GH. People try to pretend like Frank dragged him down now, but the truth is they were more often in sync than not IMO. They both had terrible excesses. The difference is that I think even Ron's worst excesses will work better with DAYS.

And all of them are featured in more than one of the new opening credits. I think I've seen CK in two of them as well as Greg Rikkart with Amelia in all of them. D. Goddard is featured in every one of them too. So unfortunately they aren't going anywhere.

Let's be real their ratings haven't be the same since the black viewers left in droves after they got rid of a certain actress. & brought back CK. Since they don't want to bring back the actress, they should get rid of CK because she really not bringing in the black viewers. I think MM/Hillary could bring in the viewers they need. & Her being married to the first & probably the only young black billionaire won't hurt either.

Nobody mentions it, but if it weren't for Victoria Rowell's exit I do believe Lynn Latham would've lasted much longer on the show. Dru was front and center and when she left the ratings nose-dived. They underestimate the importance of certain characters while doing everything they came to keep some of these truly mediocre talents around.

    • Thank you! So this throws into doubt one of the Y&R's pre-emptions. Rest of my post isn't needed now we have the info   Ah and the puzzle solved, lol. Too quick
    • Based on the preemptions above, I think I have figured out the one wrong item, and learned a new piece of history in doing the 1973 sleuthing! All of the preemptions matched except for 4 shows (Love of Life, Search for Tomorrow, Young and the Restless and Gambit) which each had one MORE preemption than expected. Checking on Watergate from 10/3/73 (since all 4 of those shows have that date list as the common one between them), there was a bomb threat called into the Watergate committee, which made the morning session get called off shortly after 11AM, and then after a bomb search, they started the afternoon session an hour earlier at 1PM. So, based on that, I am removing 10/3/73 as a preemption date for those 4 shows. CBS looks like they wrapped up commentary quickly after 11AM and aired the 4 shows (Love of Life would be a partial episode). (Although Vanderbilt does say they had commentary during that time, that does not look to be the case).   # of Preemptions 10/1/73-10/26/73: All My Children...0                        Another World...3            MON 10/8/73 NBC 2-(448) NCLS Game                                      TUE 10/9/73 NBC 2-(507) & (507)-onward NLCS Game & ALCS Game                                      WED 10/10/73 NBC 2-(440) & (440)-onward NCLS Game & ALCS Game As the World Turns...1    WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate  Days of Our Lives...3      MON 10/8/73 NBC 2-(448) NCLS Game                                     TUE 10/9/73 NBC 2-(507) & (507)-onward NLCS Game & ALCS Game                                     WED 10/10/73 NBC 2-(440) & (440)-onward NCLS Game & ALCS Game Doctors...3                    MON 10/8/73 NBC 2-(448) NCLS Game                                     TUE 10/9/73 NBC 2-(507) & (507)-onward NLCS Game & ALCS Game                                     WED 10/10/73 NBC 2-(440) & (440)-onward NCLS Game & ALCS Game Edge of Night...1                  WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate  General Hospital...0                Guiding Light...1            WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate  Love of Life...2          THU 10/11/73 ALL 11-1158AM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference                             TUE 10/23/73 ALL 11-1204PM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference One Life to Live...0              Return to Peyton Place...4    MON 10/8/73 NBC 2-(448) NCLS Game                                            TUE 10/9/73 NBC 2-(507) & (507)-onward NLCS Game & ALCS Game                                            WED 10/10/73 NBC 2-(440) & (440)-onward NCLS Game & ALCS Game                                            THU 10/11/73 NBC 330-(onward) ALCS Game Search for Tomorrow...1      THU 10/25/73 ABC & CBS 12-1PM (NBC 12-1238PM) Secretary Kissinger Press Conference  Secret Storm...2         WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate                                   THU 10/11/73 CBS 3-430PM CBS Daytime 90: Tiger on a Chain Somerset...4                        MON 10/8/73 NBC 2-(448) NCLS Game                                            TUE 10/9/73 NBC 2-(507) & (507)-onward NLCS Game & ALCS Game                                             WED 10/10/73 NBC 2-(440) & (440)-onward NCLS Game & ALCS Game                                             THU 10/11/73 NBC 330-(onward) ALCS Game Young and the Restless...1      THU 10/25/73 ABC & CBS 12-1PM (NBC 12-1238PM) Secretary Kissinger Press Conference   Baffle...0 Brady Bunch...2     THU 10/11/73 ALL 11-1158AM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference                             TUE 10/23/73 ALL 11-1204PM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference Captain Kangaroo...0 Dinah's Place...0 Gambit...2              THU 10/11/73 ALL 11-1158AM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference                               TUE 10/23/73 ALL 11-1204PM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference Girl in My Life...0 Hollywood Squares...2  THU 10/11/73 ALL 11-1158AM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference                                    TUE 10/23/73 ALL 11-1204PM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference Jeopardy...1                  THU 10/25/73 ABC & CBS 12-1PM (NBC 12-1238PM) Secretary Kissinger Press Conference Joker's Wild...1             WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate  Let's Make a Deal...0 Love, American Style...0               Match Game '73...2            WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate                                          THU 10/11/73 CBS 3-430PM CBS Daytime 90: Tiger on a Chain Newlywed Game...0 Password...1                        THU 10/25/73 ABC & CBS 12-1PM (NBC 12-1238PM) Secretary Kissinger Press Conference Price Is Right...2                         WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate                                           THU 10/11/73 CBS 3-430PM CBS Daytime 90: Tiger on a Chain Split Second...1                     THU 10/25/73 ABC & CBS 12-1PM (NBC 12-1238PM) Secretary Kissinger Press Conference $10.000 Pyramid...1            WED 10/3/73 CBS 10AM-5PM: Watergate  Three on a Match...0 Who, What or Where Game...0 Wizard of Odds...2       THU 10/11/73 ALL 11-1158AM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference                                    TUE 10/23/73 ALL 11-1204PM: Eliot Richardson Press Conference
    • @Paul Raven said: 1976 Pt 3 <snip> Victor, her words hitting upon him like tidal waves, pleads, “Dorian, don’t say any more,” as .he moves to the sofa, where he collapses, suffering a massive stroke. I remember watching a great deal of these scenes in all of your 1976 Pt 3. Amazing! And you are at the all time classic part of Dorian scheming against Victor.  Dorian was totally unsympathetic then, a true villain.
    • DEATH BY DEMOGRAPHICS IS `MURDER' MOST CRUEL That episode totally shaded CBS. Considering how CBS treated Angela Lansbury after all she did for CBS primetime, I don't blame her for reacting the way she did.
    • Do yourself a favor, don't google her blog.
    • @Errol there seems to be a malfunction in quoting that started happening a week or two ago.  PersonA posts something.  PersonB quotes PersonA and replies.  Then PersonC tries to quote what PersonB had quoted, and the *result* is that the original thing that PersonA said, becomes quoted as if had been originally said by PersonB. For example - PaulRaven posted on prior page this  (Link to PaulRaven original post) Then I myself janea4old quoted PaulRaven and replied  (Link.to.janea4old.quote.of.Paul.Raven.and.reply) Then @j swift tried to cite my PaulRaven quote, But the result was that PaulRaven's words were attributed to me janea4old. That happened above (Link to misattribution) Screencap of the glitch with misattribution of Paul's words to me:

*** Sorry everyone, I don't want to derail this thread, just wanted to post what happened on the page where it happened so that Errol could see it in context. J_swift is not to blame.  My theory is that this is a messageboard technical glitch.  I've seen this happen several times with various posters on various threads over the past week or two.  Quoted quotes being misattributed, and it happens with experienced posters who usually don't err in this way.  So I think there's a technical glitch in nested quoting.
    • This is Hayley's second mention of pregnancy in about as many months and it seems like she is trying to get pregnant to fully secure Bill. Her little weak read toward Chelsea was so off the mark because neither Chelsea or Naomi want Dani back with BIll, especially after the revelations of how he threatened Leslie. Anita and Tracy's talk ended up being productive after all. It seemed like she was just going to be Tracy out, but the idea of Tracy being the middle man to talk to Sharon is a great move. The constant mention of Dante Green makes me think he will show up at some point (Clifton Powell, Nathan Purdee, Darnell Williams are my list of preferred picks).
