Members DaytimeFan
I've binged on all 10 episodes. The beauty of this show is that, since it's based on actual people and events, there aren't really spoilers. That said, I'll give everyone interested some time to watch the show before I comment on anything specific. All I'll say is it's a masterpiece and I found myself incredibly moved. It has also shifted some of my views about a few members of the Royal Family.

Members DramatistDreamer
Have seen seen 2 episodes of The Crown and Chewing Gum is on my list since I've been hearing about this series for almost a year!
Members YRBB
Considering my historical knowledge of the royal family is minimal at best, I DO expect to be surprised at points. Which is a good thing! (although perhaps not good for my UK history knowledge lol). I don't see this as much different than a TV series based on a book: All the answers are out there but it doesn't mean all are aware of them. So I think your instinct was correct lol Looking forward to watching! It also looks excellently produced. Webmaster Errol Posted November 7, 2016 Webmaster Share Posted November 7, 2016 I'm five episodes in and I'm amazed at how much I like Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Surprised they show Please register in order to view this content I never paid much attention to her anointment to the throne, particularly when it happened or why, but I was emotionally driven by the death of the King. I guess because it is based on a true story, we won't get a lot of modern twists and turns we expect in a scripted series, but I definitely have love everything I've seen so far. Definitely plan on watching the remaining five and looking forward to where the series goes from here. As for "Chewing Gum," I can't stop talking about that show with my friends and colleagues. Such a funny show. Came up on my Netflix last week and I binged all six episodes. Want more. When is more??? LOL
Members DaytimeFan
Did anyone else dive into Season 2 like I did? What a show and what a glorious Queen.

Members Faulkner
@DaytimeFan- are you a Brit or an Anglophile? I need to give The Crown another try. Many people I respect loved it, but the first few eps left me cold even though I enjoy almost everyone involved with it. (I was a HUGE fan of Matt Smith’s Doctor.) But I’m allergic to British costume dramas, aside from the Gugu Mbatha-Raw movie Belle and a few other exceptions. I also tried to watch The Crown while loopy on meds on a long haul flight to Japan so... Edited February 22, 2018 by Faulkner

Members DramatistDreamer
Both Claire Foy and Michelle Williams' agents need to get the boot. These agents are not advocating for the clients properly.
Members DRW50
Wasn't she much less known than Matt Smith at the time?
Members Faulkner
Yeah. I get it. Someone mentioned if the Queen were played by, say, Emilia Clarke, she would have earned more than Matt Smith based on her GoT fame. It’s just the way the machine works. Same with Michelle Williams. She’s Oscar bait. She doesn’t have a track record of leading blockbuster films, even ones as empty as the Transformers movies. However, Claire should have gotten a second season bump after her first season award recognition. Her fame exceeds his by leagues at the point, so she should have renegotiated for more.
Members DRW50
Wouldn't they still have about the same level of fame? I also read a lot of complaints about the second season... They probably had her on a contract which she couldn't renegotiate.
