April 5, 20169 yr Member I threw in the towel 2012. I'd had enough I peak in ever so often catch an eppy or watch clips from time to time. But I'm pretty much done. That's when I stopped watching full time too.
April 5, 20169 yr Member I'll catch a scene here and there, as I'm flipping through channels. But the last time I made a point to sit down and watch an entire episode of GH was...I can't remember when.

In an umbrella story everyone in the canvas plays a role. Whether it's a lead role or minor role. This not the case on GH. I can't wait until Roxy has an umbrella story of her very own. Holy cow!
April 5, 20169 yr Member 1998 was the last good year for GH and even that had some big mistakes thanks to Guza's hackery and bizarre personal hatred of Laura.

That was a great interview, especially her honesty about what trash the soaps are and how far they have fallen in quality (I don't really buy the "golden age of TV" stuff though).

That was a great interview, especially her honesty about what trash the soaps are and how far they have fallen in quality (I don't really buy the "golden age of TV" stuff though). While it feels like you’ve been on every soap, you have not yet done B&B or Y&R and you could always go back to Days. Anjelica versus Victor Kiriakis would be killer! Should GH dry up for you, there’s still unlimited opportunity. But here’s the problem with soaps: The bar keeps getting lowered. This is the golden age of television. I stream a lot of great shows on Netflix, plus I’m addicted to HBO, Showtime, FX, AMC, BBC America. That s--t is remarkable! And then you put all that up against our soap operas and the disparity just gets bigger and bigger. It makes me crazy. This is not the best that we can do. Yes, there are limitations in daytime with budget and time but then we need to write material that accommodates those limitations. Don’t write shootouts on the pier. Don’t write explosions and fires. If you don’t have the time and the money, make the stories small and intimate and heartbreaking. I also find it completely irresponsible to play guns the way do on GH and as often we do. I am sure she didn't care for the GH preview for this week…LOL And Wow …I didn't know Douglas Marland was going to get her for ATWT. I wonder what character he had in mind for her. I would've loved to see her on ATWT.
April 6, 20169 yr Member Jane Elliot on ATWT, possibly sharing the screen (and sparring) with Elizabeth Hubbard or Colleen Zenk Pinter. Talk about missed opportunities. I'm with JE: daytime just shouldn't try to compete with movies, cable and network TV, streaming media, or anything else that has the luxuries of time and money. They'll never win that fight. Just let soaps do what soaps do and leave the other stuff alone.
April 6, 20169 yr Member While I agree with her that a lot of other programming is so much better, I don't think it is a golden age. I prefer the peak tv term, which denotes how much there is to watch that no one can see everything. Since Marland died it is possible the character was never created or in some unused show bible the audience never saw.
April 6, 20169 yr Member Storms and Barash are divorcing after 2 years of marriage. Wow! http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-real-life-gh-couple-splits
April 6, 20169 yr Member And they sure are working hard to dispel any gossip that might arise from the news, aren't they? Too bad, though, that cynical bastards like me see right through that [!@#$%^&*].
