Popular characters who've never worked for you

Michelle Bauer - GL

Claire Ramsey's daughter should have been A LOT more interesting.  I was halfway entertained when Joie Lenz was in the role, but the pairing with Danny Santos sucked the life out of her.  By the time the show ended, the part was played by that horrible actress and I was way over it.

This is probably blasphemy for most but Hope Brady has always been a snooze to me. I don't get her popularity. She had a couple of good storylines, but I don't like her as an actress or a character at all. Sam on GH. She is so monotone and dull to me. Skye/Robin Christopher-I think she is a good actress but her character was a hot mess that was all over the place. And I know she was popular with the Sax pairing but I think she anti-chemistry with everyone they tried to pair her with afterward.

Alicia's Kendall only worked for the first year or so after that she became overload and forced feed to viewers. When producers force feed you characters that means they aren't working..ie….Nina and Franco on GH.

Gwen Norbeck (ATWT). I got the feeling she was really popular but I never got the hype. I suppose she was supposed to be street wise, poor, misunderstood plain jane who the guys could see beneath her facade to love. But I guess with all the singing and the unrealistic position of these TEEN BOYS (more than one)looking past several (more than one) more beautiful and engaging girls, I just couldn't buy it. Then all the singing...I wasn't feeling it.

Adam (Y&R). He's a sociopath. Sociopaths just do not work as romantic leads for me. Especially when he had used and hurt every woman that came into his orbit.  Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Then the quickie teeny bopper fairy tale romance with Chelsea annoyed me. I didn't buy them. And that persists to this day. Too bad the show revolves around them now.

cane (Y&R). He's not attractive. But folks seem to think he's hot. He has a weird looking body and the weirdness has been exascerbated by some weight that I think he may have put on due to not being able to work out from the elbow injury (poor guy). The 267 back stories just destroyed him. Cons are typically interesting. Not this one. .I find it hard to believe that Neil can sleep at night knowing that this is who his only daughter beds down with.

Bridgette ( B&B). She's always just been ho hum. I was never able to relate to her. When Jennifer Finnegan was in the role, everyone thought she was so great. But i found Bridgette to be a bore. Not even when they flirted around with ridge and bridgette could I be  pursauded fo care. Ashley Jones was more relatable but then they couldn't find anything to do with her and started the Nick saga. I couldn't muster interest there either.

    • Another great episode.  GH has been pretty good this year, loading up the chamber, because now there's many bullets to fire, and another one was fired today when Nina found out Michael is the father of Sasha's baby.  I hope this secret comes out at the hearing.  I've also liked the slow burn with Gio/Emma. There's just so many things to look forward to on this show now.  GH is finally back to being really good.
    • I'm all for it. Get them Nina!

    • I am blown away that Christie Clark is 51, and she debuted 39 years ago. They gave her a lovely script today.  But, I could not think of any other examples in culture of someone able to jump right back into the skin of a character, after virtually retiring from acting years ago. I was trying to recall if Carrie left for a bit with Anna after Roman died (because she wasn't at Bo & Hope's wedding), and then returned as a pre-teen Christie?  Or if she was just SORASed off-screen?  But, whenever I see the character I am reminded how much more trauma she's endured than Sami, and yet she remains such a nice person.
    • Weirdly I feel like Nina was the most sus about the entire situation.  Normally I would have given this one to Carly, but Nina was always kind of trying to make it make sense. I think Nina (and Alexis) are actually really smart characters.  They just constantly get in their own way with dumb plans lol.
    • Rewatching some of 1991 I had to appreciate what a strong week March 5-12 1991 was. Cassandra dies, Nina shoots David, Sheila switces the babies, and drunk Nikki all occurring simultaneously. 1991 and 92 were pretty strong overall.
    • Still loving all the Gio fallout, but the scenes that really surprised me this episode were the ones with Nina and Maxie. I was not expecting Nina to be the one to put together all the pieces about Sasha's baby daddy. This custody hearing is about to get explosive!
    • I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop
    • BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today. Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani. Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.
    • Agreed.  It doesn't feel in character at all.
    • You could always tell whenever Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for a particular actor, because he'd pull out all the stops for them; and Julianne Moore was no exception.
