My heart and my prayers go out to the victims of this latest tragedy and to everyone who has been affected in some way by gun violence.  No matter which side of the debate you are on, I think we all can agree that this should not have happened.

Rumor has it Christians were targeted this time.

I'm tired of this savagery. We're supposed to be the greatest country in the world and we can't keep guns out of criminals' hands while honoring the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens?

At at least the shooter ended up six feet under this time, unlike the last couple of times. Small mercy, I know, but we won't have to sit through "his side of the story."

I have to ask a question, and maybe I'm dumb and should know the answer, but - has there EVER been a mass shooting where the shooter was female? I'm just curious to know and, sadly, there have been so many I can't think of them all off the top of my head. Just curious - not that it matters one way or another. No matter how you slice and dice these type of things, they're never any less horrendous

this broke my heart. how sad, but true.

No. When women kill it tends to be personal and less about making a statement. Women who kill multiple people tend to do it more like serial killers: one at a time and with the intention of getting away with it or they do it at the command of some psycho they love, think Charles Manson.

IMO, mass shooters are usually inadequate failures as men who feel like they've lost some power they were entitled to. Women aren't raised with that expectation so when they kill they are killing a person while the Dylann Roofs of the world are trying to kill society. That said, the day is coming when we'll have a female mass shooter and I suspect it's coming soon.

He is absolutely RIGHT. I don't agree with him on much, but on this I do. There are like a couple dozen of you, and ONE of him, if everyone didn't just stand there, at least you would have a chance. Good grief. I don't know what the deal is, have millennials been so coddled all their lives that have lost the instinct of survival? If you won't fight for your own life, I don't know what to say to that.

Sorr but that is victim blaming. Not one person knows how they would react in this type of situation including Dr. Ben Carson. It's why I cringe when I hear people talking about how the answer is to give everyone a gun? Really? Don't we see how many problems there are with personnel such as police officers and military personnel, people who are allegedly trained for these situations, much less someone who has never touched a gun. And no I don't believe that even those out there who have been trained including you, know how you would react if someone with several automatic weapons suddenly started shooting people up. And just how many other innocent people would get hurt.

Not one person including the president has talked about taking guns away from legal and law abiding guns owners. I would think even gun owners are smart enough to see how the NRA isn't representing them but the gun manufacturers yet it's the same sound bites about how rights are being taken away etc. As someone who is deathly afraid of guns, when do my rights get taken into consideration or the rights of the victims, because I am tired of mass shootings being all about the how persecuted gun owners and not the victims or the real problems.

It is not victim blaming. Nobody is blaming any victim for the shooting. And many people DO know how they'd react. If you don't know yourself well enough then maybe you wouldn't. It comes down to a large percentage of poeple are just sheep and will be lead to the slaughter without fighting back. If your'e gonna die, might as well go down fighting, and secondly, it IS harder to hit a moving target, in case you didn't know.  A alot of gun violence is committed by repeat offenders, if you'd simply make a law that if you use a gun in the commission of a crime, you get life in prison with no possibility of parole, that would stop it really quick.

That's not victim blaming now ur calling people sheep? Not u or anyone else knows for a fact how they would react I don't give a crap what you or Dr Ben Carson says. Unless you've been trained and prepared for specifically these type of situations you have no clue. As I pointed out, even people trained to deal with this have had issues and don't act flawlessly.

I'm not sure how running up to a gunman with an automatic weapon is going to stop anything. It might just make the shooter angrier and cause him or her to go on another rampage and kill even more people. Until you are personally in that situation or know the psychology of the shooter it's a completely baseless claim.

Ben Carson basically blamed these murder victims for not being tough and bootstrappy enough. As soon as he used the words "I wouldn't stand there and let someone shoot me" he was blaming.

I hope that someday he gets to experience this situation so we can see how perfectly he handles it.

    • The original premise of "Santa Barbara" was that a Lockridge (Warren) killed a Capwell (Channing), who loved an Andrade (Santana), while a Perkins (Joe) went to jail for the crime. I think once the show started to pull away the threads by eliminating Joe and naming a new killer a lot of the show's original potential was lost. I contend, like others, that the fault lied in the uninspiring casting, which leads me to wonder if that's why the show became so keen on casting soap veterans for nearly every pivotal role.  The failure of the Perkins family was definitely a casting issue followed by a lack of interest in committing to the original onscreen characterization. I was fascinated watching the early episodes and realizing that the Perkins had been financially wiped out by the trial, which was an underlying current towards John's animosity towards his son. Then, the additional complication of Marissa's nearly incestual affection for Joe that led to her cutting off John sexually was a wild moment to witness, but not as strong as it could have been with a stronger actor in the role of John Perkins. Melissa Brennan wasn't the right choice for the aspiring young vixen that Jade was intended to be. Brennan may have breathed life into Laken, but I'm not sure how Julia Ronnie would have done in the role of Jade.  Despite the recorded history, Christina Robertson and Sarah Gallagher weren't sisters; they were aunt and niece.  I don't think it would have hurt to make Marissa and Augusta sisters, but I think it would have made the Joe / Augusta seduction impossible unless you truly mimick "Rituals" and make Joe Sarah's stepson. I think a childhood friendship between the two women would have worked. It would have also given Augusta someone to confide in about the situation involving Peter Flint and herself as Marissa would have been aware of Peter from her work at the pre school. As childhood friends that were estranged by class differences, I think a relationship between Augusta and Joe (and later Augusta and a sexually frustrated John) would have had multiple layers to play out giving a deeper impact on Augusta's involvement in both of the men in Marissa's life. And because I have thought about this all too much, I would have Augusta and Marissa square off again when Jade, after marrying Ted while pregnant, learned that the little Capwell heir was in fact an imprisoned Warren's son only for Augusta to ultimately keep mum because with Ted married to Jade he wasn't free to pursue Laken.  I imagine the Andrades would have slowly been withdrawn from the Capwell inner circle as the truth about Santana, Channing, Jr., and the baby came to light for everyone. In what I seen in the 1980s, Rosa confronts C.C. once about the baby and then seems to move on. Early in the run, the actor playing Reuben claims he and Bridget Dobson had a falling out and implied that she was racist which led to the character fading into the woodwork.  I know I am like maybe one of two people who liked the 1990s run of the Dobsons, but I loved the set up for Santana / C.C. with the Andrades having owned the land that Oasis sat on years earlier posing Santana to come into money while also potentially landing a position where she could raise Gina's son with C.C. if C.C. and Santana could have secured custody of the child. With Eden gone, I would have gone back to Santana and Cruz, but if not, I think Brick should have returned to be Santana's conscience and potential love interest.
    • Well, I'm not going to shoot you, so no worries there. If it's subpar i hate hearing that. It was an old DVD not even mine a former partner. I thought why not make use of it. Serves me right for thinking. But to be clear, white label, www.radiomemory.com
    • Just compared the open on Friday's episode with the first week episodes. I think the difference is that the bass line is much more apparent -- stronger and harder.
    • Phew, that was close to disaster!

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
