What a brave, beautiful, powerful woman.

I am so sorry she's gone. Breast cancer took Jackie's mother. So sad that it did the same to her.

My condolences to Dame Joan. Jackie gave a lot of people a lot of pleasure.

She was a self made woman when it wasn't common. She was a true Brit with real grit. I loved her and I will miss her for the rest of my life.

I read in one of those obits that she also lost two husbands/fiances to cancer. That she fought for 8 years with this disease, especially with what happened to her mother, is unbelievably brave.

She didn't seem to have any of the conceit certain authors have.

Sad to see her go.

Omg poor Joan. And RIP Jackie. It wasn't so much your BLOCKBUSTER books I loved  [(c) Lucky Bitches -- French and Saunders] (though they were page-turners), it was what a great interviewer and wit and raconteur you were.

She totally made it on her own, and she did it while gaining friends and admirers, not losing them. They don't make dames like her anymore. Her or Lauren Bacall ot Joan Rivers, I mean. :`(

Still so sad over this.

This is one of her last TV appearances, 9 days before she passed. I sort of wish I'd never seen it because she has lost a lot of weight and clearly something was wrong.

By comparison, this was about a month before, where she still seemed her usual, robust self. It's one of the best interviews with her I have seen, her chemistry with Angela Bishop was phenomenal

But just over a week before her passing, with 6 years of cancer, and at 77, she was still writing daily, still had incredible wit, was fun and doing international book tours. I love her, always will. RIP, Jackie. :(

My mother and aunt were also only a few years apart and the best of friends.  I cannot imagine either of them keeping such a secret from the other.  I think this says a great deal about Joan's emotional fragility and Jackie's sensitivity to it.

Dame Joan penned a beautiful tribute to Jackie, it's been widely circulated in the UK papers, with each of them making a donation to the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Centre at Dame Joan (and Jackie's) request. The last line took my breath away.

Thank you for sharing. Beautifully written - laughter and tears. I too like the last line, and the part about Peter Holm made me crack up.

Thank you so much for this. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. So many tears throughout but the last line had me bawling.

    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.

    • I enjoy BF better on Days than on YR.   Chad is greater than Cane, in my opinion.
    • Ick! Seeing MS and BF making out as the characters onscreen was just ewwww.
    • The SON board.
