February 23, 201510 yr Member I will watch Julianne's speech and the memorium (?) but is there anything else worth seeing? No, not really. Unless hearing Lady Gaga perform a medley from "The Sound of Music" is on your bucket list.
February 23, 201510 yr Member Thanks everyone. I saw that JK SImmons won too - was his speech any good?
February 23, 201510 yr Member I wish NPH had taken the risk and done REAL predictions to be revealed at the end of the show. What we got was forced and predictable and, as with most of his material tonight, an utter waste of time. I saw that JK SImmons won too - was his speech any good? I thought so. He didn't just rattle off a bunch of names no one knew or cared about. He kept it light and funny and imparted some simple advice -- namely, call your parents and have a real convo with them. February 23, 201510 yr Author Member I wish NPH had taken the risk and done REAL predictions to be revealed at the end of the show. What we got was forced and predictable and, as with most of his material tonight, an utter waste of time. As Florence from the Jeffersons would have said ...he was a mess...nothing could have saved his hosting disaster tonight. I cant believe some people actually thought it was good.
February 23, 201510 yr Member If Florence had seen how many shots of "People of color",as well as presenters, She'd ask..."How come no one told me we overcame?????!" Florida Evans would have just said "Damn, damn, damn, damn......."
February 23, 201510 yr Member Frankly, they could have had Debbie Allen in the audience delivering take-out boxes of soul food to everyone and it still would not have been as blatant as their attempts tonight at silencing the critics. Edited February 23, 201510 yr by Khan
February 23, 201510 yr Member I say, next year, they should rename it the Otis instead of the Oscar. I mean, anything to prevent another year of that mess.
February 23, 201510 yr Member I am very thankful I do not watch anything while simultaneously being online. Tonight was a fantastic show. The only thing I would have taken out was Jennifer Hudson's performance. The In Memorial video was great. I do not understand why they needed her to waste time and sing afterward.
February 23, 201510 yr Member Don't they always have someone perform a musical number after the Death Reel? Or am I misremembering again?

And it still won't silence the critics b/c everyone has called them out on their scheme. I say, next year, they should rename it the Otis instead of the Oscar. February 23, 201510 yr Member Don't they always have someone perform a musical number after the Death Reel? Or am I misremembering again? I have the memory of a goldfish about these types of things, but any such remembrance segment is always brought down by a live performance. The video itself with some beautiful instrumental music is all that is needed.
February 23, 201510 yr Member And it still won't silence the critics b/c everyone has called them out on their scheme. What do you want to bet that next year, the Academy will go out of their way to get more AA nominees than ever? Then it really WILL be like watching the BET Awards! Hell, they'll even give Oscar himself a new Kangol hat and pair of Adidas shoes to wear! Edited February 23, 201510 yr by Khan

February 23, 201510 yr Member I liked the one where Celine Dion sang "Smile." Read that they didn't include Joan Rivers or Jan Hooks. Blech. Jan I guess I could get (although she was a highlight of a beloved cult film), but Joan wrote/directed a movie and was in a number of films. I guess it's some anti-comedian thing.
