Since at least 50% of her 'story bibles' were nonexistent fanfiction she made up on social media on the fly, I have my doubts.

I can't imagine Pratt sicking around for very long to be honest, as soon as he gets another ABC Family or primetime consulting project, he'll be out of there. The damage would have already been done by that point though...

This is probably not good news for Y & R. His stint on AMC started off as entertaining and he wrote Erica well at first. But he had no respect for the show's history, pointlessly killed off characters and the writing was very misogynistic.

I want to welcome Chuck Pratt Jr to the Y&R family.

He'll fit in just great, since that's what's been happening on Y&R for the past 9 years

Well, if Brad Bell plays his cards right, and starts plotting for maximum effect, he might be able to overtake Y&R in a little over a year or so.

Pratt will be flashy, but he will focus the show on all the problems that already exist . Young sexy stories with flash! With Jill's strong belief that older characters should be supporting, or gone, and a lack of charismatic younger actors the show isn't in great shape to survive the two of them.

Brad Bell has gone after Y&R before, and been turned down flat. The Bells aren't getting their hands on Y&R ever again. Brad has only ever had disdain for the CBS executives, he disregarded any notes given to him, and he wasn't subtle about it. Karma is a bitch! And while I'm not of fan of his storytelling, he would still be better than Pratt. Good-bye Y&R.

It's the difference between micro and macro. Dialogue is about the moment while a good HW has to take the long view. Both skills are necessary.

They are definitely two different talents, and a very rare few have both.

Pratt sucks, but Sally Suckass Moron-a would not have been great either. How the folks at DC are parading like she's some savoir and talented writer is hilarious.

Generations was a boring mess, her DAYS stint caused the show to drop from a steady #2 in the ratings if I remember correctly, and she consulted on much of the Sheila's botched return to Y&R in 2005 (the poison necklace nonsense was her idea). I think there's a reason Bell never hired her again after she left for Generations and she didn't come back to the show until the final days of Jack Smith...

The Bell's have had no idea what to do with the show after William senior left this Earth, that much is clear.

The fact that they let Maria run this show for nearly 5 years of mismanagement is proof of that. Her ass wasn't fired until Steven Kent at Sony had enough of her nonsense. They ruined their chances with this show after the Maria Arena Bell debacle.

It was still #2 or #3 in the ratings her entire run.

When did Brad go after Y&R? Was that after MAB was fired?

Shortly after his father's passing.

I remember the show dropping to #3 during that time. I think by 1999, the show wasn't consistently #2 anymore as it had in the years prior.

Days had already lost rating with JER still at the helm by the end of 97. B&B gained ratings into 99 so its not like it was a monumental collapse.
