August 3, 201411 yr Member If the writers had been smart they would have left something in Kay's will to Nina that would have made Jill furious and ignited another feud/rivalry with Nina. There is a void there with no feuds going on...Jack and Victor are just there with boring ass storylines.....Billy vs Stich is not a rivalry I love this idea about Kay's will. The HW (JG at the time, I guess) threw away such a unique opportunity to continue the Jill/Kay feud long after Katherine's death by using Nina. Tricia Cast and Jess Walton have gone toe-to-toe many times before (during the great Bill Bell days). They're stellar actresses. So much could have come from a dynamic rematch. This just illustrates how weak the writing has been since the Bill Bell stable of writers left. Jean and Shelley are a disaster. They tell moments, not rich, complex stories that draw the audience in. This show is in desperate need of a strong HW, preferably someone who worked with Bill Bell previously, who really knows the Y&R style of storytelling, not the generic crap dished out to the audience on a daily basis. As for the Emmy in the background, it gets more discussion on this board than any of the current stories. That should tell JFP and Steve Kent something. But they, along with Angelica McDaniel at CBS, don't seem to get it. They've invested their reputations with this head writing team and this EP and they're sticking with it, no matter how boring the show is most days.
August 4, 201411 yr Member She SHOULD be excited. It's a great addition to #YR. Hint: Sitcom royalty. "@GHmea1: All she said was shes excited about a new cast member" — Michael Logan (@TVGMLogan) August 4, 2014 Hey Haters. Who said this was stunt casting? It's actually brilliant casting. #YR — Michael Logan (@TVGMLogan) August 4, 2014

August 4, 201411 yr Member Forgive me if I dont believe its brilliant until I hear who it is and what role they play. Brilliant? Must be someone from the 80s or 90s in need of cash.

August 4, 201411 yr Member Lol people kill me, so sitcom stars aren't allowed on soaps now? So then soap actors are forbidden from being in primetime, movies, etc... Of course they are allowed. Income is income. I'm just floored at anyone believing MB is a huge casting coup for YR!
August 4, 201411 yr Member Jill (and Jess Walton) definitely deserve better. Whatever happened to JFP's penchant for older woman/younger man relationships? Surely, they could write in some pretty young thing who works at Chancellor Industries and thinks sleeping with Jill is his ticket to the top. Let's not. I cannot think of anything worse for Jill than to be the desperate, lonely, pathetic old woman that gets duped by a hot, muscular young man for her money. Because that's exactly what the storyline would make her out to be. If you're going to give Jill a young stud, give her someone who really likes her. He can have ambition and she can know about it. It will make her wonder but she will be convinced of his genuine feelings and help him rise with her. And I hate that the only feuds on the canvas is still Jack v. Victor. I feel like they seriously dropped the ball with Noah v. Kyle. They should've recast Kyle again (with Robert Gorrie IMO), reigniting the Newman v. Jabot rivalry with the newer generation. Now Kyle is off the canvas living in NYC while Noah is slinging drinks behind a damn bar. They messed that up SO badly... there are no words. Lol people kill me, so sitcom stars aren't allowed on soaps now? So then soap actors are forbidden from being in primetime, movies, etc... You need to check the reasons why ppl are reacting this way, first, before you talk about it. This is an insane stunt casting trend that MAB started because it gets them press and mentions. Nothing more. And, unfortunately, it's continuing. Edited August 4, 201411 yr by YRBB

August 4, 201411 yr Member I don't know what it is with Cady McClain, I loved her on AMC and ATWT, but here she's not good, I don't know what it is I agree she's awful in this role. Cynthia was miles better. I don't even know should y and r recast again or cut there losses with this character. I love Cady but she's horrible miscast and out of place here reminds me of Eden Reigal.
