I actually laughed at that sex scene not because there was anything wrong with it but I just kept thinking that Cookie was locked up for 17 years and Lucious has a disease that makes his muscles weak. I was waiting for Cookie to screw him to death. LOL! Of course, now I'm waiting for Cookie's prison girlfriend to show up because, come on, you know there had to be one.

According to a recent interview with Chaiken, Andre's story is about to move to the forefront. I'm glad because he seems to be either taken for granted or forgotten by everyone.

I need to add one thing that I liked, Elle claiming she was on "CP time." As much as I hate that concept, I love how it showed that Elle truly has been a part of Empire's world since the beginning. It was just like her remark last week that her record sales kept the lights on "in that black shack." One of the things TV often gets so wrong about interracial relations is that when you're really close to someone you don't avoid the topic of your differences because the topic isn't "dangerous."

A little tidbit that I caught and appreciated was when Cookie said that she's never "been" with any man other than Lucious. Yeah, she's been in prison for 17 years, but she probably had tons of opportunities to get some from other men before that, but, if she's to be believed, she didn't. That adds so much to the character.

I kind of hate that to tell you the truth. I hate the whole concept of Cookie having to be written as pure when Lucious spent most of her jail term laying pipe from Philly to New York. Of course, she said she hasn't been with any other men. That still leaves room for the prison girlfriend and can you imagine what that would do to someone as homophobic as Lucious? It would put his whole "trigonometry" talk with Hakeem in a brand new light.

I don't watch the show and even I know it ain't possible for a woman like Cookie not to have left her crumbs on more than a few men (and women) who have strolled by her toll house.

I think Cookie's revelation adds a note of vulnerability. She was a young girl when they got together and he swept her off her feet. He was still a player, but she was the brains of the operation and she put him on the path to greatness.

Whether or not she had action in prison is a whole other thing, but I think Cookie having little exposure to other men before Lucious is a nice touch. As powerful as she is and as much strength and charisma as she radiates, Lucious is in her blood and, at times, I suspect is her Achilles' heel. It's very possible to be strong in one way and deeply vulnerable in another.

I don't think he would have the same reaction though. There tends to be this double standard where some men think lesbians are hot rolleyes.gif , but gay men are disgusting. I definitely got that vibe from Lucious when he was talking to Hakeem about Tianna. I have no idea how he would react to one of "his" women going there, but it wouldn't surprise me that much if he didn't react the same way he does to Jamal.

You need to change that ASAP. tongue.png

    • Not mad at Leslie Locking Eva out, I think it's important for the audience to see her on her own for a while. Curious how scrappy and savvy on her own. Yeah, I am with you there. It feels a bit hollow; maybe if she was talking to Martin and Kat I would feel better about it. There must be more to this story. Daphnee and Ambry owned this episode. Tugging my heart in every scene. Nicole process hurt and anger much differently than Dani though.
    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it really did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was emotional stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. At this point Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up doing some more bonding with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
    • Yeah, I think that Leslie's speech would have had a bit more of an impact if Ted had been the Dupree's son, with Nicole being the daughter in law they loved like a daughter. But being that he's the son in law, and that Eva (at least not right now) isn't technically a Dupree, it doesn't hold as much weight. They aren't caring much for Ted right now and their feelings could be trickling down to Eva. Though, I do think they have some sympathy for her. I really enjoyed today's show. Loved a stripped, down hurt but still strong in her resolve Nicole. DD continues to shine and shows why she is IMO the heart of the show. I felt her words, and anger at Ted and how she broke down in Kat's arms at the end. She is just wonderful all the way around. I also loved the way that Anita read Leslie. She was spot on about her and how mishandled everything with Ted and Eva. And speaking of Leslie... I immediately thought the same thing once I saw that scene. That what she exhibited was trash behavior. I don't think she's a good mother. In fact, I think she's lousy. Granted, I have missed some episodes, but I haven't really seen her do anything to indicate that she really cares for Eva or her well being. All she's really done is try and manipulate/use Eva for her own agenda since she came to town.
    • I thought Brandon C was much more believable as Martin today.  Before, I watched an actor trying to portray a character.  Friday and today, I simply felt the character.
