Compared to some of what I've seen over the years, Bo hasn't had it that bad.

I agree Carl. Although his exit was awful. Bo a deadbeat dad? Um, no.

I can't blame him for bolting under Tomlin, but he seems somewhat pissed at the show, STILL, which is surprising. Frankly, if he wants to work, get over it and move on.

I figure Bo would have been on the backburner, but Peter seems so discouraged by DAYS. I really want to know what happened.

If PR wont return full time then recast Bo

I LOVE Peter Reckell, but yes, I'd be fine now with a recast Bo now.

Yeah it seems PR doesnt want to return full time. Yet he poops on the show...lol...but yet he would return to close his story...hmmm...his character would be trashed if he only did a short term return....I think PR was upset that his airtime became nonexistent and thats why he left.

Didn't they try to lowball PR during negotiations? Keeping him off screen put the show in a position to either keep PR or let him go and not suffer for it.

I understand he wasn't happy about the lack of screentime, but seriously, Bo has lead stories for decades. Peter can play supporting. I do think they probably lowballed him so he'd leave, honestly. He probably saw what they were trying to do, IMO, although it's all speculation on my part. And he has every right to not want to just play supporting extra. The fact is, he was a dayplayer when they read those damn letters. So it clearly had something to do with the contract and episode guarantee. Shame. I kind of think they didn't expect him to leave so they were pissed and just kept Bo off-screen for long enough to give them time so that they could finally move Hope on.

IDK. It all sort of reeks and it seems the show has no desire for any leading man over 45 (Drake Hogestyn the exception for some reason, though they keep trying to get rid of him). Look at all the guys that have left under Tomlin's EP run or HW run (Thaao Penghlis, Matt Ashford, Stephen Nichols ...) it doesn't seem like a coincidence that they are run off or fired. Guess you can't push Shawn Christian or Galen Gering when you have real leading men.

However, the show can EASILY explain it away that Bo's been held hostage and was forced to tell Hope he was staying away. It's been done before and would be an easy throw-away explanation. And for some reason I feel like Corday is the reason they never killed Bo off, which would have been a lot better of a choice.

Of course, the ones who really hurt in the end are the fans.

Yep.

Frankly, I'd rather kill off Bo. Let Reckell return with the announcement that Bo has contracted a horrible, incurable disease. Play with the question of whether this is a "real death" or "DAYS death." And while we establish that Bo is, in fact, really-and-truly dying, play the hell out of Bo and Hope spending every last moment they can with their family. I'm talking flashbacks, people. Tears, snot, Peabo songs, the whole shebang. And let his impending death impact the rest of Salem. As it sinks in that Bo is not much longer for this coil, lives (and stories) are shaken up in surprising (and, God willing, exciting) ways. So that when the moment DOES arrive, and Bo slips away in that hospital bed, with Hope and Ciara holding onto him, everyone -- and I mean everyone -- is sobbing their effing eyes out...

As John reels from a bombshell Bo delivered to him earlier that day -- the fact that he is, in fact, Stefano's son. (Hey, gotta keep the viewers coming back somehow, right?)

HA!!! Peabo songs. From SB's Joe and Kelly with "If Ever I'm in Your Arms Again" to Bo and Hope with "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" (not to mention that he sang the OLTL song in the late 80s/early 90s) - he has to be the soapiest singer of all time!!!

Maybe Tomlin is the reason why? I'm no fan of TomSell, and IMHO the show should clean house of all the producers and start over. Of course Days won't... and the ratings aren't in the basement.

Glad to see KA is getting some story, but I'll always be a Bope fan. Maybe someday Fancy Face will get her rightful partner back.

They tried that and look what happened

I think he saw the writing (or lack thereof) on the wall and took it as a cue to make some changes in life. He's in his upper-50's with a young daughter to raise. If he saved his money well, he can enjoy many years off and spend time raising his daughter. They moved to Tennessee, so it's not just a little break (yes, Melissa Reeves and her Christian Clan moved there once too, but still) to wait for the tides to turn in Salem.

I like the idea of bringing Bo back briefly to have him die, and milk the nostalgia and tears for all its worth, Peabo and all!

MarDar weren't that bad (IMO) until around January 2012. Something completely shifted between November 2011 and January/February 2012 and then bam, there come TomSell again. I think Tomsell have done alright but I credit the scriptwriters for keeping me invested in the show on a daily basis, honestly, the storylines themselves aren't exactly gripping.

It's no secret really that Tomlin drove off Jay Kenneth Johnson basically and practically couldn't wait to get rid of Thaao Penghlis, Matt Ashford and Bryan Dattilo (though thankfully the Bryan thing was somewhat corrected). And not to mention Stephen Nichols had issues as well.

It's clear there's an issue.

Yeah I think it's more of Lorraine Broderick, Melissa Salmons and the other SWs, they certainly earned the WGA Award

But interesting how Marlene's Days was compared to her stint at All My Children
