When was the last time we heard "The role of ...is being played by..." in a soap?

Nothing beats ABC running the real Greenlee returns to AMC while Sabine Singh is still airing as Greenlee. No class at all.

So Classless

They could've just said "Rebecca Budig returns to ALL MY CHILDREN" instead that whole "Real Greenlee" nonsense

Well that would have called for Common Sense

Man, what happened to Jennifer Gareis. Seeing that and her now the differences are really noticable. Shame.

And that real Greenlee commercial was ridiculous. I mean, I understand why they did it (promoting Budig's return), I guess, and it makes sense, but they clearly didn't give a crap about the current actress, which was awful. Really bad move on their part. If Singh had been long gone for months and then they aired those promos, fine.

I was actually really curious if Days was going to do this with the character of Will Horton last week between the Chandler Massey/Guy Wilson switch. They didn't, but I was curious to see if they would. This was a long time ago (circa 2001).. but I remember on Days (who hardly ever does "The role of... is now being played by...") they did the voiceover for the character of Susan ( part of the Last Blast teen group) when she was recasted, and I remember being kind of shocked, even then - since Susan was a pretty minor character. As for Days, I can't remember any recast being announced since that occurrence.

The last time I remember DAYS doing it was in 2007 with Cordy, she was first played by Jamie Chung and then Christina Stacey. I even think Ken Corday was the one who did the voice over.

That AMC recast midscene is PREPOSTEROUS lol

...but effective. I thought the transition was very smooth. I liked it.

The Passions vid cracked me up, seriously! And what's with CC Capwell being recast 4 times in less than 6 months?! I can't believe it :D

About VOs: I hate it when an actor from the show does the v.o. (like Peter Bergman on Y&R). I mean, can't they find anyone else?

Santa Barbara did the risk as well with a midscene recast. Terry Lester came in drunk as Mason at Julia's place. A friend of Julia, Dash hit him in the face. He went down. When Mason got up, the role was from that moment played by Gordon Thomson. Gordons Mason left the place. He just stood outside of the house and the VO said: The role of Mason Capwell will be now played by Gordon Thomson. In the next episode, just before the opening credits, the VO came again when the camera zoomed in Gordons face. Effective and emphasizing at the same time!

Oooh I love the "The role of X is now being played by Y" voice overs. Seems like the Bell soaps do them more often than the other two do. Y&R seems to always have Peter Bergman to do theirs. I was hoping DAYS would do one with the new Will, but they didn't.

I made a photostrip of that SB midscene recast scene. Still figuring out how to post here!
