Linda, you're the only person I have seen talking about the supposed "summer slump" of these shows that exists in your mind (particularly AMC, which has been running hot for almost its entire new run), and I'm pretty sure you attribute it entirely to David and Angie.

I LOVED the half-time bumpers.. these were my favorites, the ones from 1999-2003 for ABC Daytime

of course would be cool if they do them like the CBS ones from 2003-2006

Oh good. That's good. Maybe now that the network is a bit more established it's being made more visible and available.

I flipped through my guide and it was kinda nice seeing them on the schedule. I might bump up my package temporarily. The price difference really isn't that huge honestly LOL. But every little bit adds up!

Really? Because I thought she made it about the people who have been harassing her for years. The same people who, now that they are getting what they claimed to want, are still acting like crazy, sad bitter bitches stuck in a [!@#$%^&*] time warp.

At first I was a little bummed the promos didn't show anything that might showcase storylines but all about Oprah is not a bad thing. Its freaking Oprah. If we can pick up some Oprah devotees, wonderful.

Still really wishing there would be late night encores to build the audience but perhaps in time if the day airings do well.

And to be fair to Oprah, the network did pick them up pretty quickly. It's really only been like 9-10 weeks since the shows first started airing again. 3 months is pretty good.

I think the problem was the way she handled it. She was pretty dismissive (though again, to be fair, I'm sure the fans were nutso harassing her) at the time so I can see the initial knee-jerk reaction to bash her for it. I'm not one of them, but I can see why some would, though again, the nutsos seem to come out in full force so ...

I see this as nothing but a positive move. It was wrong of people to expect her to carry the load of two soap operas when she was just launching a network. I don't care how rich the woman is.

I am glad you said this- I have read "summer slump," many times now and I am extremely confused. AMC has not been in a slump IMO and has been beautifully rolling along since like late May. OLTL had a bit of a mini slump when the weekly eps first got reduced but is catching right up to AMC the last few weeks. But as far as AMC- the Cassandra/Hubbards story seems to have people talking & engaged (sure I could use a day off from it but thats always the case on soaps), Colby has miraculously immediately livened up Pete/Celia, Brooke is finally getting things to do, Dimitri is back in Pine Valley, JR's dark side is slowly reemerging, Billy Clyde Tuggle is creeping around town, the 2 main teens have one of the most adorable friendship/possible romances in recent memory on soaps, the David/Cara secret or the Miranda conception secret could blow up at any minute. And I gush about AMC as someone who will forever be an OLTL fan first. This is easily the best summer in Pine Valley in a decade- I see no slump. Especially airing 4 times a week on OWN, I see no reason why this can't and won't hook people. If they know about/can find the shows OWN.

Yeah. I also don't blame her either because the nutso were probably repeatedly harassing her to the point where she probably had to do something.

I think the nasty reactions to her picking them up is ridiculous. To me, shut up and be happy they are on a cable network. Like I said it can't really be anything but good for the shows.

    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.

    • The stories are awful. I'm not enjoying any of them. All I'm left with is Sally in a plastic dress.

    • lol. But...SAME. in Mona's 'Good' voice.
    • I loved your rambling because you had some good thoughts.  Stopped watching Y&R years ago so can't comment on that, as far as Lame is concerned. No cares in the world.
    • 5-7   All I took from that episode was how much I love Damian and Lily and Billy needs to STFU. I KNEW HE WAS PRESSED how Nikki came into the office the day he had to leave it and would want payback on her, too. Whiny a$$.
