This is the first "pro-PP' argument that has any resonance with me. I got so tired of the endless union blaming that goes on in this thread.

I'm not really pro-PP management or pro-Union here- I'm just pro my shows and I guess trying to analyze this in some way that doesn't equal doom. I don't know the real truth and PP has certainly bungled a lot of things with this release. But I do think they must have had some logical, non-knee jerk reason for stopping production. With the 2 ep schedule, it doesn't seem like cutting 7 filming day is shooting themselves in the foot or killing the shows so I figure might as well remain calm until I know more.

Does anyone really think these shows will not go back into production and they will be cancelled? I just don't see PP giving up like that. That means cancelled and rights reverted back to ABC. Its not like ABC would do anything about it. This is a start up a very ambitious project. Its going to take time to iron all the kinks out.

I don't think PP is throwing its hands up and giving up yet by any means. I think the fact that we haven't heard much smoke blowing from them since the announcement is actually a good sign that they're actually working with legal teams and financial people to resolve this. I don't know if the shows will go back in production but I'm certainly not anywhere near writing them off just yet.

I actually do not think it's true that if PP halts production that the ABC characters revert back. I really don't know anything, and I don't mean to try and sound like I do, but based on what I've seen and heard, it sounded like PP had to have something in the can by a deadline (which was extended) to make the contract binding -- but they have the license for 10 years. So my interpretation was that they had to produce one episode by the deadline to seal the deal. As long as they pay the licensing fees, which I would assume are payable annually? And they don't default on their payments -- they will still have a binding contract.

At this point, WHEN these shows finally fold, PP should just give back the rights. This way, they don't have to pay the licensing fees that they clearly cannot afford.

Two eppies a week so that the audience can keep up my ass!

So you're saying definitively that they WILL fold. LOL. Well so will GH and ABC will have no use for the rights.

Robin Strasser Reacts To OLTL Hiatus

By SOD • Posted: Jun 7, 2013

On her hotline, OLTL's Robin Strasser (Dorian) addressed the show's early hiatus. "I got the news that the show was not going to tape today, Thursday [June 6] because of a union dispute, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, the small local [chapter] in Connecticut," she says. "I listened to some really smart people during the day who were saying, 'Well, there's going to be a problem when we come back from the hiatus.' Now, I was already in a state of deep concern and I've been tweeting about feeling off-center but trying to keep it obliquely upbeat. Not untruthful, but just, 'Okay, this seems a little odd, two weeks ago we were told we would close down production on June 15 and then not resume until September 8.' Now, if it is to fine-tune and make the already existing shows that Prospect Park has made of ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN and make them better and better and better, well that's wonderful and I really look forward to that possibility…. I want to take every opportunity I can to thank the people who've been involved in making the revived ONE LIFE TO LIVE episodes. When you watch them on Hulu and iTunes and they're edited together, they look like movies. They look like these groovy regeneration of the concept of the multi-generational storytelling…. Prospect Park spent a fortune and enormous energy making those shows. So anger placed at them is misplaced. Absolutely misplaced, alright? Those two wonderful men [Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz] have a set up where they can produce shows, entertainment and create jobs and let's all say 'Thank you'. I'm gonna and that's my recommendation." For her full report, call 212-414-5300.

No, baby, you've got years of Silas, Kiki and Franco to enjoy.

Nothing lasts forever. There will come a point when GH is gone, and these PP revivals end.

I wish more soaps fans accepted that.

is this because no one has revived ATWT and the other P&G soaps??

No, because realistically, everything runs its course. Many soap fans have an entitled view that just because these soaps have been on for decades, they're immune from ending.

It's sad to see your favorite shows end, but they will and fans must deal and move on.

In case you missed the memo, our shows did end and we did move on. Then they came back. God forbid we enjoy them while they're here.
