Wow, this show really seems to be well-planned out at the moment. So many things being set up well in advance. I totally remember that scene thinking WTF is that girl doing!? Crazy that weeks later it might actually have served a purpose.

when did Chad talk about some viral video? I missed that line

how could one not get it. The guy specifically says to Stefano "so you don't want me to kill Rafe" and Stefano tells him no to cut it off. That scene made it clear that Stefano didn't want Rafe dead. His ego was bruised when he overheard Kate say Rafe was the best lover she's ever had so he wanted to destroy the part of his body he uses to make that happen.

Wednesday's episode. Chad and Sonny are talking at the coffee house and Chad shares a video with Sonny that he says Sonny has to show WIll-- it's "hilarious" "will make you crack up" "rethink your partner choices" and "vintage psycho Sami"

Nicole literally snatching Kristen's wig, then egging on Kristen because she can't say a thing about her feelings for Eric now that no one will believe her. Stefano playing his damn opera music. Brady finally getting to call out Kristen in public. Tying in Bernardi to Sami protecting Rafe, not being able to mention how she knows him because it could affect Will. This is all great writing with great, long-term plotting. We've finally seen what can happen on Days again when Corday isn't busy playing headwriter shuffle.

Dear Days,

Thank you for a great episode today. Though I don't understand why you take 1000 months a head of time, I'll never understand but if it keeps you the good content coming from the show lately then I am all for it. I am loving this story with Stefano trying to have Rafe 'offed. Classic Stefano. Furthermore, I am loving Kristen/Brady and I am dying for you two put them together, so I can watch Marlena melt into a puddle. Oh and Kristen better whoop that baby obsessed. heffa's , Nicole, ass in the near future. My only gripe is that you have a lot of characters (Hope, Abe, Eric) are in limbo and you need to do something with them. Otherwise, I am happy.

Sincerely,

A happy soap fan :P

Thoughts on today's epsiode:

-Color me impressed with Deidre Hall - so this is Marlena when Deidre when she chooses not to phone it in? I never say this about Marlena, but the way she conveyed her mix of anger, hurt and betrayal with such restraint (sans the obligatory slap) actually made me feel for her. Drake on the other hand, well enough has been said.

-Sweeney really overacted, but I liked the way that the show redid the shooting scene from her perspective.

-Stefano conducting music with glee at the thought of Theon Greyjoying Rafe was a great touch. It's been a long time since Stefano's pure sadism last emerged.

-Brady was actually gave a decent performance in his interaction with Kristen

-I loved that Kristen and Nicole slugged it out. I know plenty people will poopoo those scenes but it's not beyond either of them. And I was impressed how Nicole knew which buttons to push and with such gusto, she had Kristen on the backfoot. But ED's hair - how could anyone think that was a good look?

-Who took the razor? I missed it.

They didn't show what happened to the razor. But someone called Stefano, so I'm assuming someone else on his take? I feel like if the razor was still there we'd be getting close-ups of it hidden on the floor or something.

I went and watched the John/Marlena scene from yesterday (fake slaps suck!), and I thought Deirdre did a great job. She actually seemed to be feeling the emotions, and not just doing stock reactions. I think she's done the stock reactions sometimes in more recent years so this felt much more real to me, and like she's committing to the material, as uneven as it is.

This show is absolutely firing right now. The one truly false note for me is this bizarre shift in John. Hogestyn's strength has always been in playing John as a likable hero and romantic lead; RoboJohn was kinda fun just because it was so perverse and such a flip on the usual. But this John doesn't even make a lot of sense to me. I could buy that John has some lingering feelings for Kristen, but something about it is off, and I don't think it's JUST the performance. The writing feels undecided on John's part of the story. Deidre Hall, on the other hand, was absolutely on-point today. I'm far from a J&M stan, but for John to be pulling this now feels like a cold betrayal, and she played the response very well.

Great episode today! I liked how we saw Sami's POV today that we didn't see yesterday. I already like Kristen vs Nicole and it could get better down the road.

The only thing I didn't like was, of course, the John/Marlena scenes. It just didn't feel right to me. I hate how this is being written.

Having no Dan/Jen really does make the show that much better.

Did anyone else notice how the show was filmed? It was like the filming was processed differently and it gave the "film" look. I hope that it was just for today because I hate "film look" on TV. It's too jittery.

I don't care how the John/marlena scenes are written.. just as long as they do the job of breaking them up and spiriting John out of town.. and leaving marlena to focus on her career, family, and foes. She certainly has a place as a strong supporting character that can sort of drive story.. but still be supporting.

Another good episode! Loved the irony of Sami bonding with and comforting Bernardi's wife and the look of horror on Sami's face at the end when Roman (ugh I loathe his voice so much after all these years) told his wife he died.
