PP: AMC & OLTL to air twice weekly

I doubt DC wants them to fail because less soaps equals less traffic to their site, which means less money in their pockets.

They may just believe even more hyperventilating about GH will do the trick, along with the primetime stuff (which seems to get almost no attention when I read their site).

I have felt a noticeable distance from the soap press and these new shows. I think part is down to the soap press living for "Cartini," part is probably because of PP's history, but I also feel like it's because they have their fiefdom and nothing can threaten this.

The problem is you've been frustrated since pretty much Day 2. At which point the show had not yet aired for a full sixty minutes. That is not realistic to me.

The way I look at it is this: When the McTavish-era AMC knocked her off I thought Brooke would disappear for good and never be seen again. Instead, she came back, reunited with Adam and became part of one of the show's new signature tentpole couples. The final shot of the opening is her and Adam in a romantic clinch. Did any of us ever believe that would ever, ever happen? She's now basically the First Lady of Pine Valley. That is unheard of to me, and carries weight enough for me right now. She's mostly involved in other people's stories at the moment, but I think I'm going to wait until a month or two of the show is under my belt before I complain that they're wasting Julia Barr. Brooke is a tentpole character now, and she'll probably never have the massive airtime she did in the '80s or '90s, but she is a real presence for the first time in well over a decade and I think it'll only get bigger. If people actually give it time.

You're forgetting that these shows have been showcasing almost everyone everyday in some capacity. The pacing and structure is a lot different. It's not like a network hour show where we see eight people and we know that's it for the day. Almost everyone has been on a lot. Not always in the same quantity or focus each day, either. Even when A.J. and Miranda, or Pete and Celia or even the OLTL kids are on, they're not necessarily the biggest thing that day.

Vee, I hope you're right. I'll be watching as long as they're on - which I hope is for YEARS to come. Episode 2 didn't do me in. B&A not even sharing a kiss for his 'extended leave' (which is SO OOC I can't even) goodbye because the kids had to be there while I see Viki/Clint (who's had NUMEROUS storylines, weddings etc) getting all this airtime, wedding talk, kid free POV did.

And as McHack HATES Julia (and Frons making no secret of having no use for her while he just loved his golf buddy BE) while Lorraine loves her and is one of her BFFs it didn't shock me one bit it changed when the old biddy HACK was shown the door and LB was brought back for the final year.

I think Prospect Park has been distancing themselves from the soap press. There has been barely any coverage/interviews with actors. No story previews nothing...so I can get why the offline magazines are doing what they are doing. No content will equal less coverage.

Max, I say this with all sincerity, because I think you're always respectful of other's opinions and genuinely seem interested in what people have to say about the genre (even if I still think your comment about how "horrific" AMC's ratings near the end were seems more an opinion based on what some blogs have said, than on fact.) But... You never watched AMC really, did you? I mean--the number one story on the show--whether it's good or bad--is based around Angie, Jesse and Zack. One of the main other stories is based around JR, David, Dixie and Bianca. How is this a show based around brand new characters?

There are SO MANY PEOPLE who have little to no history with Agnes's favorite yet they are CONSTANTLY runnin mouth about what's best/good for it. I don't get it.

PP just released previews to the soap mags today

The previews in the magazines identical to what we've been seeing online one sentence blurbs. No interviews with actors previewing story ahead of time or longer more detailed long term information. That's what I meant.

The things I have seen is that most long term fans are happy and excited with the reboot (Khan and AdamandBrookefan--I think I have that name right--excepted--two people who I know do have history with the show.) Frankly, I don't trust someone who thinks RC's One Life to Live was the best era for ANY soap since the Great Agnes wrote to judge the current AMC.

That's why I'm not re-subscribing to SOD and SID. They're getting nothing substantial from PP, and I don't need to pay good money for fluff interviews, etc.!

Close enough. And ITA. Anyone who thinks Ron's OLTL was the best era let alone of ANY soap (what are they smoking?) needs to take a seat as far as I'm concerned.

I like the writing. Just not the balance and rotation - so far. But for me, it's still 20 times better than the last 10 yrs of network excluding LB's stuff. Ditto for OLTL.

The more I look at Hulu the more I wish that PP would've held off on reducing the episode count for another month or so. So many shows are going on summer hiatus that I think it would've been good to see if AMC/OLTL could benefit from that.

Marceline I agree with you. That's part of why I thought it was weird as now there is no competition. The best time to get people hooked is when there are less options.

Which is really funny to me because they constantly bitch about the lack of PR and the poor communication with GH, while PP has treated them like gold.

Just got press releases for The Wanted Life and Keeping up With the Kardashians. Haven't gotten one from GH in two years. Go figure. LOL

I have also noticed a slight move away from thr Soap press and these new shows too. Less interviews. Started out strong and fading a little.
