GH 50: Discussion for the Month of April - May 3, 2013

It was. It took place in PC or something like that, there weren't any GH characters though

No Young Marrieds was a sorta sister show and I believe had some brief crossovers--but it didn't take place in PC (it was in Queen's something--of course GH's ciry wasn't even named back then) or share any direct spin-off qualities.

I'm finally caught up on GH and ready to comment on the nurses' ball.

First off, I don't blame Felicia for rejecting Frisco's proposal after he serenaded her with the song he wrote for his ex, Tania. So much for Cartini respecting the show's history when everyone who watched in the 1980s remembers F&F's song was "Lady of My Heart!" That said, Max came off as a jealous high-schooler with that awful ventriloquist act attacking Frisco. And what was Frisco's reason for leaving town when his pregnant daughter can use his support?

Without Maks in the mix, that striptease would've been total ff material for me. He and Milo were the only hot guys there.

What did get the ff button going was Richard Simmons & Lucy. I still don't get why he hates her so much.

Most of the musical numbers have been cute (Spinelli/Ellie, Noah Drake as Rick Springfield, even Sabrina/Emma), but the highlight of these episodes for me has been Britta and her mother doing their best Grant Andrews/Natasha impressions. I can't wait to hear what announcement Britta makes today!

And for someone on the show 20 years he is staggeringly inconsequential. Was his only story his entire tenure The Tale Of Two Macs? I really hated what they did to Frisco this last episode, and Felicia is an idiot. Yeah, yeah he raised her girls. Well cats raise kittens but it doesn't mean you need to marry one. The guy is a drip, a no personality clod who went into hysterics about the danger of Felicia writing Lila's biography for christ's sake.. It's no wonder Georgie decided to get married at 14, I would too to get away from this stifling, overbearing stick in the mud. He was such a great father, one girl got married during recess, one girl wound up dating hoods and contracting HIV, and the third became a drug dealing homewrecker who gave birth to a pillow. Yeah, he was a really great father. And meanwhile there is Frisco who can offer Felicia a life of adventure, excitement and an occasional song, so she chooses the guy who will get mad at her if she isn't home by 10. And the show went right into the old ways almost immediately with she telling him to not be mad at her. Well, when is he not mad at her??? He is just in Port Charles to be mad, sigh, and give boring lectures and sermons about how wayward you are.

You're going to have to tell me, Qfan. I'm not quite sure how you feel about this. wink.png

"Lady of My Heart" may have been too personal for the Wagners for him to sing it. Otherwise he might have used that instead. I'm sure RC/FV would have wanted it, but the Wagners' own history with each other may have clouded their feelings too much.

LMAO! Preach! I don't give 2 chits about Frisco, but I couldn't have summed up Mac better no matter how hard I tried! The man is a drip, and so is his portrayer! Mac lasted this long why?

Who knew, but Felix is kinda fine.

I noticed. Part of the reason I started watching this again. I haven't watched a full episode since 1980 or so.

Oh, I guess I can be the only one, but I like Sabrina. Since I've started watching again (it's been about 2 months or so) I haven't seen her take up a lot of air time.

Lastly, so glad that Kate character hasn't been on. Kind of have to FF through that.

The Richard Simmons crap is beyond ridiculous. I guess he hates her because she didn't want to use his song. All he does is shout in his scenes. I mean I cracked up through all of it but it was so stupid.

The Simmons stuff was by far the worst part of the nurses ball. I did skip saint Sabrina and Emma too. I do wonder why nobody is at this nurses ball. And did I miss Carly and sonny leaving?

ITA that the Simmons stuff was idiotic and he seriously yelled ALL of his damn lines but apparently he kept hounding RC to let him be a part of the NB for the 50th and this is what they came up with for him. SMH!

From what I can tell from the deleted scene Sonny, Carly, and Brenda were all outside. Maybe they left? It looked like both Brenda and Sonny did, but I thought Carly would go back in. Or they are at the NB just not seen yesterday? I don't think they are shown again from spoilers.

Couldn't they have given him the Bobbie treatment and deleted his scenes then posted them online later? Ugh...

Doesn't Elizabeth live in Queen's Point. The town The Young Marrieds is set. I think I read that in a old SOD

I was pretty impressed with Rick Springfield's performance. He must be so sick of performing Jessie's Girl, but I thought he should a lot of energy. I always feel bad for stars who have performed a song thousands of times, since I know I get fatigued just hearing a song after a certain point. Singing it like you mean it time and time again has to be draining.
