I didn't like Sonny/Alexis as a serious romance and had been a fan of Sonny and Carly from '99 to 2003 or so, but I had no problem with keeping Kristina alive. The larger S&C fanbase was absolutely deranged back then and many of them were actively campaigning for the baby to be undone and be blamed on Sonny's guard Johnny raping Alexis. I thought that was beyond the pale and could not get behind that. I liked Alexis and I thought the long secret of Kristina was just plain good soap. It could've been held back even longer from Sonny IMO.
The problems with Kristina are about how they've handled her since she grew up. Neither Kristina nor Molly were taken seriously as leads for over a decade and it's cost them down the road, first with the many Mollys who don't register for me including the latest and then with Mansi who they awkwardly tried to force into a series of unpopular stories. But none of that had to do with Kristina's existence being a mistake IMO. She just should've been used much better.
If both Sam and Morgan weren't dead (and if I didn't badly want to kill Donna lol) I would say you could do a suicide/mental health story for Kristina to kill her off and cut your losses. But with all those deaths I wouldn't go there, I'd just send her away for however many years and try to look at it again with fresh eyes someday far from now.
