Something is off here. Every 2 weeks we, the viewers get out-of-nowhere breaking news and it is not all good either. Change in Headwriters, Change in schedule, and now the Unions (SAG/AFTRA) and the crew unions too getting into all this mess over well deserved pay for work.

As I have always said, this is PP's show and I get the feeling that they want to hoard the money and pay accordingly only when their backs are against the wall. What is really going here? Who feels like they have been shortchanged? Well, we the viewers are the one' s getting shortchanged, shortchanged with 2 episodes per week, shortchanged with the Canadian fanbases who were spending to ensure that FX Canada would carry the show, and just once again, here is another controversy going on.

I think it's obviously an issue involving both soaps, but the article mentioned just AMC out of ignorance. I could see this being true, if only because Vincent Irizarry said they only filmed 47 episodes in a period they were meant to film 70 episodes. Maybe by filming 70 episodes in this short time frame the episodes were cheaper, but since that money only filmed 47 episodes, it means they went over budget.

shortchanged. At least we get 2 a week. Some soaps are gone and never coming back. Think big picture, not what YOU WANT

it just took longer to film the scenes so it took more days. Question is on what days if any did they spend more than 125k

If they were originally supposed to film 70 episodes for the 5 week block and then they had to cut back to 47 episodes, that leaves 23 episodes out of production ??? I wonder what the contracts look like and if it states that so many episodes will be filmed and paid accordingly, and then cut back 23 episodes, then what legally does PP have to pay or not have to pay according to the legal contracts?

Yes the actors should suffer no loss while taping even if they are now taping less eps per day. But if I am understanding all of this correctly, there was a planned July taping cycle for AMC that is not happening because they're going on hiatus to rewrite/edit. So their salaries for the next taping cycle are pushed back to August (and I guess September for the OLTL crew who would have been back to work in mid August had AMC taped in July).

    • IIRC Storm was a nickname given to Stephen Logan Jr. as he had a stormy temper. Much like William Foster Jr. was given the nickname Snapper for snapping at everyone. I remember an interview with either Bill Bell or Bradley where it was mentioned Bill Bell got the name Ridge from a college classmate of Bradley's. Bradley even said that his classmate tells everyone "I'm the real Ridge". I don't where Bill Bell got Thorne from.
    • I'm left wondering if Lynda Hirsch how much access from her office in the Midwest?  I assume people called her to leak information all the time.  And she had press releases, interviews, and screener tapes.  But her insight into the character of John Conboy made me question if she was an insider or just a yenta?
    • The interview also makes me appreciate more how clever it was for Bill Bell to use names like Storm or Thorne. That was a quick talking point for Hirsch with the show. And while I always made fun of it, looking back that's also something that made people I knew who rarely watched soaps always remember B&B.
    • There was also nepo babies Ethan Wayne and Carrie Mitchum.
    • I had forgotten he was on Kotter until the interview (I did watch that show to the end in reruns but the only replacement I remembered was Della Reese). I should watch that spinoff pilot sometime.  Maybe he decided acting wasn't for him anyway as his last credit is two years later.
    • I don't have to tell you, that he was their “big get” when it came to casting.  He replaced John Travolta on Welcome Back Kotter and starred in the backdoor pilot for a guy spinoff of Charlie's Angels with Barbara Stanwyck.  He was certainly more famous than the lead singer of one-hit-wonder Player. In the beginning, I always confused Dave and Thorn, as well as Ridge and Rocco, due to their similar hairstyles. Side note: You know The Colby's was bad if Barbara Stanwyck thought the writing was worse than the guy Charlie's Angels script -- Toni's Boys .
    • This has a lot of talk about early B&B, including Lynda Hirsch correctly inferring that Gail Kobe and Bill Bell may not work together long. She also roasts Bill Bell the way Chris Schemering did for the various mentions of "My God, man!" I am trying to remember if we actually got any of those (didn't Ridge used to say it?). There's also a lot of mention of Stephen Shortridge, who never seemed to have anywhere near as much value on the show itself. Sometimes I am surprised they never brought Dave Reed back for another doomed Brooke romance.

    • Thanks.  It can be tough to remove things from IMDB.
    • Which RC isn't above doing so thank goodness that was not the case.
    • Another episode breakdown by RC. That wasn't great to see on screen. I thought the Laura and Leslie scenes were a dream sequence.  The episode was better than yesterday's episode. I'm not feeling the Anita story at all.  Ashley and Derek continue to be a bore.
