AMC: The Prospect Park Era (old production thread)

After she came back from the dead the first time, Dixie should have been presented as a woman who made horrible choices and had to live with the consequences of those choices for both herself and the people she loved. Instead, we got Greg Madden as the big bad as far as the Kate situation AND Adam being blamed for the man JR turned out to be. The thing is, had Dixie been made to suffer the consequences of the choices she made, she would have grown as a character and would have been better for it. I think she could have evolved into a complex, layered character who owned her choices and their consequences.

With that said, I hope that is what we're going to get as far as Dixie is concerned with this reboot. Namely that the last five years have forced her to accept her (and Tad's) responsibility for how JR turned out AND that perhaps she and Tad drifted apart because SHE accepted this responsibility and HE couldn't evolve past the fantasy world where nothing is his fault and Adam (or David or Greg Madden) is responsible for all the evils in the world including the evil, horrible choices he makes.

It would be interesting if we get this sort of Dixie as part of the reboot. It would be even more interesting if Dixie and Adam ultimately bonded (not in the romantic sense, but in the sense that they're co-parents whose bad choices ultimately had a profound effect on the actions of their child/the situation he finds himself in) and were of one mind as far as JR's care and AJ's custody are concerned. At least that is what i'm hoping for.

Agreed that that would make Dixie a far more interesting and frankly tolerable character. I'd be very surprised if it happened, but I'd welcome it because as it stands now, I really passionately hate Dixie and preferred to pretend that JR shot her and that she died (again).

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people. Edit to add: The reason this may be impossible to source, and therefore of no use, is because it was not a public statement. She is supposed to have said it at the show, about the show, to colleague/s, one of whom repeated it in public, but that is convoluted to try to track down, so feel free to ignore. I did do some looking & I am not optimistic.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
