Which ones can you think of?

Probably the most famous would be Y&R's Stolen Sperm Saga, which slithered around for about a year and involved leading ladies cat fighting over sperm. It didn't go over so swimmingly with the soap press and fans to this day gag when they think of it.

Another one I remember is on B&B when Deacon was paralyzed and Bridget was giving him physical therapy. It gave him a boner which they both celebrated. Personally I liked it and found it pretty titillating but it was definitely awkward.

Of course there was the example a year or two later of the woman playing Carlotta on OLTL not being comfortable supporting her son might be gay in a jokey scene, and they replaced her. In that case I know some have argued she felt her character wouldn't be comfortable with it, and that was the reasoning--nothing personal, but...

And that was ridiculous.

It was a Hispanic, presumably Catholic, character.

If anything, the actress should have been called on the carpet for reverse racism rather than homophobia.

Clearly some of us remember and still discuss the actor we preferred in the role.

I don't understand why actors have to be thrown under the bus for 2 minute pointless scenes.

The funny thing is, on a certain *ahem* gay cruising/"dating" phone ap someone started messagingme and his photo--which looked like a posed head shot--looked so familiar to me. Then I found out that he was using Engen's photo--in fact it was the first one that came up on google. Just seemed random--the guy sounded like an idiot and I doubt he realized the irony of using that photo/actor for his fake gay hook up site profile.

If someone was using my pictures to pick up ANYONE without my permission, I'd be offended.

That beng said, I wouldn't mind my photo being circulated in a study group of EITHER or BOTH gays, straights, and lesbians to find out who the hell I actually attract, anyway.

Oh absolutely, though I hope the actor has more going on to worry about some Canadian loser using his photo on a social site... (I alays wonder if those people ever actually meet people in person, and how they react to the obviously different pic--I did call him out on it and he said the actor looked like him so heused it--and then switched to his real picture--which trust me didn't look like him--but I guess it got no hits becaue last time i was logged on I saw him back with Chris' photo).

I remember the word "homophobe" being bandied about immediately after his resignation/firing from Y&R. I'm not surprised we haven't heard from the actor immediately, since he was labeled a homophobe.

He's got IMDB credits for '12 and '13, ao at least SOMEONE doesn't think it matters all that much or thought to question him as to what actually went on BTS of Y&R.

It also sometimes doesn't stigmatize as much as you think--I mean Brett Ratner made that homophobic comment which lost him the job of producin the Oscars but he stillcontinues ot make (bad) movies...

This is always conveniently left out.

If he went around spouting hate or stating how wrong homosexuality is, I could understand the fuss. But this guy walks away from a rotgut story and he has to defend speculation?

Even if Chris quit because he didn't want to kiss a man, does this make him a homophobe? No, it doesn't. It makes him someone who is not comfortable kissing a man. Yes he's an actor, but I'm sure many have walked away from roles for this very reason. Doesn't make them less of an actor.

Chris got a raw deal in this mess, and it's a shame he took more heat than YR. But then again, they didn't have time to speak on it as all of their energy was being spent trying to turn a psychopath into a longterm character that ate the show whole!

Right. I don't know how he feels, and he's long gone from the show anyway, but I have always had an issue with much of this controversy being based on Nellie Olsen, who at that time seemed to be (to me anyway, just my opinion) in full propaganda mode for MAB, complete with attempts to make people see Jess Walton as a diva (which no one has ever called her, before or since) right at the time MAB reportedly wanted her replaced with Mel Harris.

Wasn't Billie also forced to do porn by Curtis? Or was it just drugs and prostitution?

Either way, it is weird how they acted like Nicole's underage porn stardom was a career choice that she willingly made.

I think it's down to writers not remembering, or caring, as they even had Hope throw that in her face, and Hope may be a bitch, but you'd think she wouldn't taunt Nicole over what amounted to sexual abuse.
