HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

In the 80s, the WGA got royally screwed over regarding royalties because the DGA and SAG made deals, which the writers were then forced to follow suit. Therefore, when the WGA had the latest strike, they really went out of there way to involved SAG (AFTRA), and get the deal they wanted for new media.

I bought the new Soap Uncensored, as I often do. It annoys me that it was promised last Thursday and it just came up on Tuesday. Even then, I don't think the Prospect Park news was worth the wait. There is really nothing new. The most interesting thing was saying that it's interesting what actors Prospect Park ISN'T contacting. I expected that to be followed up with a list of who they are and aren't interested in. Nelson also mentioned in a previous issue that the writers they were considering were laughable. Since they're trying to cut a deal with the WGA, I don't see the harm in listing what FiCore writers they were looking at.

The issue itself was good, but the PP stuff was just blah.

Kelley Missal@kelleyrmissal

Yes I hope it's true! And that they call me“@Marty2634: @kelleyrmissal Any thoughts on Prospect Park Producing "OLTL" Soap Online in 2013?”

I hope people won't jump on that, since she was directly asked.

I thought she was OK by the end, when she wasn't on much, but the character had no real purpose. She was mostly a backup Starr. Of course PP probably would need a backup Starr now...

I wonder who PP ISN'T contacting?

I mean, we know many have tweeted that so far they weren't asked.

M, explain something to me. I have not read all of the stuff about this because I'm not into either show but what's the problem with the union?

I also was wondering about union writer legalities. If PP is forced to use Fi Core or totally non-union writers, would the new writers have to create entirely new stories? For example, on AMC JR didn't go off the deep end and shoot anyone, so that part of his dysfunctional life never happened? IOW, what character history can be used and what can't, if WGA writers aren't involved?

No they can still use the old stories. Fi-Core writers are still in the WGA. They get benefits but they cant vote in elections or on contracts.

Kay Alden at B&B is Fi-core

Hogan Sheffer at Y&R is Fi-core

Gary Tomlin & many writers at DOOL are Fi-core
