Do we know if Ted and Joan filmed their scenes already? It would really sadden me if they were supposed to be with Larry and that never got to happen.

The Huffington Post has done a nice collection of clips spanning Larry's career. Only this kinda irked me:

"Knots Landing" (1980-1982)

The CBS series that spun into the legendary "Dallas" followed Gary, the middle son and black sheep of the Dallas-based Ewing family. Hagman played his villainous older brother J.R. for the first few seasons of the series' 14 seasons before getting his own show.

Here's the full piece:

Yes they do. The show will never be the same with Larry but stories could be golden.....The feud between the Barnes and the Ewings could continue if only Cliff had a son and JR's son was more evil.....the show could sit it up where Cliff's son was responsible for JR death leading to an outright fight all over again.....

I know its way too soon to think about the show but if they are going forward with it this would be a great way to continue.

Larry Hagman does deserve a big farewell with Dallas cast returning for one or two special episodes.

It is night and day. There just is no character that can compete with JR as far as resonating with the public. I don't think people born in the last 20 or so years will ever see a TV show so popular that hundreds of millions of people all around the world tune in to the same episode all hooked on the same story. Abby is just a typical soap schemer, a JR knock off like all the others. Alexis, Angela Channing...all these characters would not exist without JR.

Well, IMO, J.R. could have went out of town but not the states. On business of course. When he's flying back into Dallas on his private jet, severe weather hits before he lands. the pilot can't handle it, and the plane crashes on the runway killing both the pilot and J.R. he body is found though, so as not to have a repeat of the storyline from their tenth season when Steve Forrest came on claiming to be Jock Ewing (because his body w as never found). J.R. leaves all of his wealth to John Ross, but his younger brother by Cally shows up wanting his fair share. to protect his father's legacy, John Ross slowly starts changing, and Bobby tells him that will have to fight the same fight he fought against he father after Jock died.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why we didn't see many male J.R. knockoffs. Larry was just that untouchable. Blake was more of a heavy in the beginning, and there was The Colbys' Zack and the forgotten Emerald Point N.A.S.'s Harlan, but their schemes couldn't hold a candle. I guess you could say Knots' Sumner was sort of a "thinking man's" J.R., but that's debatable.

Me-TV is doing a 2-hour tribute Sunday. I Dream of Jeannie will be on 6-8 pm eastern time.

It really is a testament to his talent that he had such a flair for both comedy and drama, that he could play such different characters and win audiences with both. Funny, I remember when Dallas was first starting (I wasn't especially a fan but my mother watched it) and all I really knew Larry from was Jeannie and I remember wondering why they chose Major Nelson from a show a decade earlier to play the villain. Needless to say, I got my answer!

    • There was the one appearance in '96, but otherwise, that's correct as far as I know.
    •   It's working fine now.

Question for the B&B group: I see @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded multiple seasons from Videoland  (in the folders that are to be put away). They are huge folders and difficult to download so I started breaking them down into months but I realized they are by season so for example, Season 4 spans from March 1990 to March 1991. Now I'm wondering where to actually place them, since we have the Full Episodes section divided by year, not seasons. And most of these seasons we already have in full, so these are duplicates. Not sure if it's necessary to keep the older versions. I could just make another new section for Seasons, so the main folders would be "Behind the Scenes and Interviews," "Clips," "Full Episodes," "Full Seasons," "Music CDs," and "photo archive Marquise" but I'm not sure that really makes sense. Also wondering since we have almost every full episode now if "Clips" can be deleted in its entirety, as it's nearly 300GB.
    • CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
    • I sure hope you’re right. The lack of sets is maddening!
    • I'm hoping that the new studio might have more space, meaning extra sets could be permanently erected. Perhaps the current  set issues are due to limited space available at Television City as it shuts down for the redevelopment. But if more space means spending more $$$ we might be stuck with the current situation no matter where they move.
    • Thanks @P.J. If my math is correct, Jordan Clarke runs were 1983-1987, 1989-1993, 1997-end.
    • I was/am mainlining both the Dream Season and Season 7 of KL together, since that was the year of their big creative swap. That's the most I can take of Dallas consecutively. But I've been very preoccupied with other shows and work IRL and I need to get back to it after a long break from my Knots binge.
    • Wk 1 95/96 MSW moves to Thurs, Cybill takes the Sunday slot. Thurs 8-9pm NBC Friends #3 20.5/33 The Single Guy #6 19.2/30 CBS Murder She Wrote #55 9.3/15 ABC Charlie Grace #74 7.6/12 FOX Living Single # 78 7.2/12 The Crew #80 7.0/11 Sunday 8-9pm NBC Mad about You # 15 14.6/23 Hope & Gloria #35 11.7/18 ABC Lois & Clark # 38 11.4/18 CBS Cybill #49 9.8/15 Almost Perfect #65 8.1/12 FOX Space Above & Beyond (2nd hr of 2hr episode) #51 9.5/15 60 Minutes was #19 so a lot of viewers didn't stay for Cybill. On Sunday, Sept. 24, CBS finished third on the night, and its performance among 18 -49 year olds was worse than it was with the older skewing Murder, She Wrote in the time period last year.  So moving MSW was a foolish move at that point. It was compatible with 60 Minutes and would probably have finished Top 20-25 for the week. They should have left Sunday alone and concentrated on other nights..
