DAYS: November Discussion Thread

I do, but if that's where it's going, great. But what's fresh and current about any of the other stories. Even this story you're talking about has its roots in OLTL's gay story, and their other big story of the moment is a half-assed rip-off of GL's Reva/Annie story from 15 years ago! Like...I like Caroline's Alzheimer's story, but it's not a whole story, as they're just...leaving. I just feel like nothing's fresh, even their fresh stories just aren't well-conceived enough. But I do see what you mean.

In a way, DAYS is better off staying away from socially and/or topically relevant stories. They just don't have the actors capable of pulling off such material.

Wow, I read your post before I saw the show and wondered what in the world it could be about man she really is stupid. I loved how Hope covered her mouth and told her to shut up

I REALLY hate the Horton siblings right now and thats Jenn and Will. The is obssessed lunatic and the other one is coming across homophobic. They are the two most insufferable characters on the show

Sami and Kristen is made of pure win. Did they interact at all in the 90s?

Loved Sami's scene with Nicole. They have such a great dynamic and are great as frenemies

Gabi sleeps with Nick but I just realized not too long ago she was f--king his cousin

What the heck is up with all this focus on the donated baby clothes? I dont get it at all

I agree. I have to assume they are using this as a way to "expose" Nicole for knowing her baby had already died, but what a dull way to go about it. I could care less that she left baby clothes at the hospital that day. It just doesn't make sense and could so easily be explained away. Why wouldn't he find the chart she stole with the information (if she didn't dispose of it? I can't remember) or have the doctor who diagnosed her show up at Jennifer's trial and expose the truth then (that is if Nicole hadn't changed her story and Jennifer hadn't been released from jail after two minutes instead of letting the story play out for a bit).

ITA. When they first showed the baby clothes a couple weeks ago, I didn't get it. Then when they focused on the baby clothes again this week, I didn't get it. Then I realized what the significance was and was disappointed - this is how Nicole is going to be expose? Lame is right.

I was also disappointed with Bo's exit. What a boring exit. DAYS could've done something dramatic and exciting leading up to the exit and they could've planned for the future by having Bo die and freeing Hope to fall for someone else. Then Peter Reckell/Bo can return down the road and you already have a storyline ready to go.

Don't care about Will/Sonny and their sex life. Nick/Gabby are an instant couple - did they even go a date??

Jen is too dumb right now - willing to go to jail just so Dan can stay in town? WTF.

I haven't been excited about Kristen's return either. I'm disappointed that we probably won't get an explanation on how Kristen got out of the slavery.

There's just no energy to the show. Maybe T&W are saving the good stuff for Jan-March when NBC will be looking at DAYS' number really closely? I think that's when NBC will decide to renew DAYS or not. So the next two months will be more boring and setting stuff up for the new year. Maybe.

It's like what we used to say about unexplained (and unexplainable) doings on GUIDING LIGHT: there must be material out there -- breakdowns, scripts, even completed scenes -- that just never reached our screens.

Told y'all so. ;)

I would've rather seen a current character, preferrably Sami or Nicole, end up at the same little island as Kristen, help her escape and we see how she adjusts. I don't care how far out it is, I can't help but think that would be better than this crap they have been telling.

Even better? Let that current character be Marlena. She ends up on the same island as Kristen, spots her and realizes she is in danger, but have her wrestle, if only momentarily, with whether to rescue her. (After all, the two share a very acrimonious history -- and what if Kristen is just pretending to be in trouble as part of another scheme?) Then, once Marlena does help Kristen get back to Salem, she (reluctantly) aids in Kristen's recovery as Kristen tries to cope with the physical and psychological effects of being trapped for so long on that island, thereby causing real conflict between Marlena and a disbelieving (and disapproving) John.

I wish he had.

OMG...I caught up. That was a true waste of time. What a horrible week. I didn't understand WTH was up with the baby clothes. LOL at all that focus being wasted on those two stupid, irrelevant doctors. "Dr. Jonas, she's stealing!!!" rolleyes.gif SERIOUSLY??

The only thing I liked was that Kate/Sonny scene. Loved Kate wub.png

    • Leslie is an extreme liar and manipulator. I'm not sure what her point was in trying to convince Nicole she wasn't trying to hurt her. As much as Eva did help orchestrate the entire plot I feel like there was too much piling on. Eva never said she wanted to be a Dupree so Anita was extremely out of line for that comment.

That's positive and something to look forward to for sure, because you're right, 1996 so far isn't nearly as good as 1995. Ohh - what is Lonatrat?  Sadly you're probably right. I did feel like David was rarely seen once Marcus came on. That would have been an interesting spin, having Frank and Tina be teenage lovers and Dahlia really being his daughter. I'm getting the sense that Tina won't be seen too much anymore, as she just left Dahlia with Frank/Eleni as she's heading to jail for a while. I like the Tina actress too!  Her voice sounds a bit like Rosie Perez to me, which I love. I tried to find her online, but coming up empty. This was the only thing I could find about Tina Crede - a character snapshot video with clips and stills of her (randomly starting just before the 1:00 mark):

That's wild that the David actor is nearly 40 here! Definitely surprises me.
    • 5-6   Meh. It already looks like a scattershot week.    5-5 was actually a good episode. Damian and Lily. Phyllis finally going on the warpath that I knew she could get on with Billy and Sally. Nate started to question Audra and Victor's alliance. And I was not even bugged by Kyle and Claire.   But then there's Cole's off-screen story. Kyle and Claire going back to being whiny. And them even wanting Adam's penthouse just sounded like trying to keep the set around. And Diane shouldn't even give a flying frak about Billy's opinion. And Tessa, Daniel, and the guitars...yeeeah no.   But hey...JM looked good in that short. And those pants.  I agree. One of Y&R's good points with fans has always been that you do at least see the vets. And IN stories.
    • One of the things that I found unnecessary and a bit disturbing about Ambitions was that in almost every episode someone was holding or shooting a gun.  Jamey and Ron seem to have the same fetish.
    • I had thought that there was a Tommy Biddles on there, but then I realized I was thinking of Dr. Biddles on Santa Barbara. Never mind!

    • I have watched the scene where Vanessa reads the letter and it's lovely, but I'm really glad now that I never got around to watching the funeral. Henry ADORED Nola! He treated her like a daughter and Stacy like a granddaughter. That's why Vanessa couldn't stand her. He was crazy about all the Reardons. He spent a lot of time at the boarding house. He and Bea--they never explicitly said it was romantic, but they certainly were loving friends. This sounds worse than Bert's funeral. I really did not think that was possible.
    • It always bothered me from the start that Nicole just took Mona's suggestion and never checked references.  A real psychiatrist would have done more before hiring someone. ** I like that Kat's reporter/investigative type instincts caused her to be suspicious of Eva from the start, and to try to spy on Eva and catch her as weeks went by. However, I think that Kat's so focused on what Eva did wrong -- that she won't see that Leslie is the master manipulator, making some things appear different than they actually are. I hope that Shanice's natural snoopy nature will get her to figure out what actually happened to Laura, and who really caused all the problems. *** edit to add: The show never specified what Mona's job was for Nicole.  Home manager?  Office manager?  Head personal assistant?  I'm sure there would have been a title?    Mona asserted today her upset with Eva and with Leslie.  That they used her and ruined her reputation.  I just wish I knew what Mona's job was. If Mona was an official manager, then it would have made sense for Nicole to trust the recommendation, if Nicole thought Mona had done a proper hiring procedure.  But if Mona is just an informal helper, then why wouldn't Nicole order a background check?
    • And I'm here for it.   Also...YES, PLEASE.
