SOAP SYÂ¥NOPSIS-'"Search for Tomorrow"" - Convinced that Doug is going to live despite permanent paralysis, Eunice, who has been keeping a constant vigil at the hospital, admits to Doug that she is still very much in love with him, proving it by neglecting John and her new marriage. He urges her to leave. Doug wants to see only Scotty, whom he tells to see to it that Eunice never returns andd to find a way to let him die. Scott, horrified, leaves the room to find Cathy has returned from Europe. After a short confrontation, Scott and Jennifer return to her apartment where 'he admits for the first time he's in love with her and that his marriage to Cathy is over.
AT HOME, Cathy finds Eric overjoyed to see her, but she must explain to him that she and Scott have many problems. Cathy says she'll move to a hotel until she can think things out clearly. Eric later begs Scott not to divorce Cathy. Len, who had promised himself to go to the police admitting he was the hit-and-run driver responsible for Doug's accident, now asks Patti to leave Henderson for good. Patti ,elated over the birth of their daughter, is mystified at Len's sudden request.
Dr. Osmond tells Stephanie that he will leave Oakport and move his practice to Switzerland, He asks that she accompany him. Stephanie, however, must think of her daughter Wendy and, of course, her love for Dr. Tony Vincente, who now realizes he is the father her 10-year-old daughter, though (Stephanie denies it.)
Jo, not knowing of Tony's and Stephanie's past, suggests she may be able to find Stephanie a permanent job in Henderson.

Search for Tomorrow." (12:30 p.m. Ch. 4). Not being able to mutually reach any type of an agreement about Stephanie Wilkins and her daughter Wendy, it appears: the once secure marriage of Joanne and Dr. Tony Vincente is headed for, serious trouble. Although wanting to trust her husband completely, Jo is finding it extremely difficult especially now that Tony is breaking personal engagements and working late with Stephanie.
Knowing. she and Wendy are causing problems in Tony’s marriage, Stephanie decides. to. confront Tony about his visits with Wendy, where she so cleverly always. manages to be present. Much to her satisfaction, Tony assures her that he will continue to see Wendy, his 10-year-old daughter, who according to Stephanie, is the product of their past affair, whenever it is possible. Stopping by Patti and Len's to show them the locket she purchased for Tracy's first Christmas, Jo finds Wendy present playing with little Chris. Wendy immediately notices the locket and is quick to show off hers, a gift she received several years ago from her father Dave Wilkins. When Jo reads the touching inscription, she knows she must follow her instincts. Sensing for quite some time that Stephanie was using Wendy to get Tony back, Jo is now determined to visit Dave Wilkins and find out once and for all the truth about just who is Wendy's natural father. One can only ponder as to Tony's reaction when and if he learns he is definitely not Wendy's father.
Just when he assumes he has gotten his life back to normal, Scott Phillips receives an emergency phone call that Jennifer has attempted suicide. He immediately leaves Cathy and rushes to be Jennifer's side. However, upon his arrival, Scott is met by Dr. Wade Collins, who regretfully informs him that this was not Jennifer's first attempt to end her life. Having told Wade that if she cannot have Scott's love, she will continué trying to kill herself no matter how closely the hospital staff watches her, Wade desperately begs Scott to find a way to convince her that she must live. Scott, feeling totally responsible for Jennifer, tells her he still loves her and took Cathy back only out of gratitude. Believing everything Scott says, Jennifer makes a remarkable recovery and is returned to prison a much happier person. Being an excellent psychiatrist as well as a true friend, Wade tries persuade Jennifer that she needs help, but, she is sure Scott is her only cure, thus leaving him terribly concerned about a woman who he strongly believes has been unstable for some time.
Scott tells Cathy the entire truth about his visit with Jennifer and she agrees to go along with him, but has grave doubts about how all this will affect her marriage. Meanwhile, Scott visits Sam Hunter and makes a deal with him to reduce Jennifer's charge from first-degree murder to involuntary manslaughter.
Scott informs Jennifer of this unexpected decision and she agrees knowing she will be put on bail for at least 30 days beginning immediately. Jennifer assumes she and Scott will be spending all this time together, which leaves him concerned about Cathy and Eric.
The long awaited trial of Dr. Len Whiting, guilty of hit and run, drunken driving which resulted in Douglas Martin's permanent paralysis and eventual death was finally over. With Kathy Phillips as his competent lawyer, he was handed the minimum sentence, two years in the state penitentiary. However, with Cathy's excellent summation Len's sentence was suspended providing he uses his medical skills to help in poverty stricken areas.
The judge's decision leaves Patti and Len extremely happy knowing they can now look ahead to & bright future, Cathy returns home, pleased about her victory but finding Scott terribly troubled. Scott informs Cathy he must be with Jennifer for the next few weeks, otherwise she will destroy herself. Being more than understanding in the past, Cathy is horrified to learn about his plans. He tell Cathy he loves her and Eric, but he feels he must get Jennifer together mentally before she learns the truth about the two of them.
Will Cathy once again swallow her pride and allow Scott to do what he feels he must, or will she finally realize Jennifer will always be a part of Scott's life?
