She was gorgeous and if they kept her I think she would have been Erica's greatest competition for Jack, bringing out a bunch of interesting body image insecurities for short, dark-featured Erica.

You can almost start up another topic on actors that everyone else loves but you hate. I would label Jennifer Landon as a miscast. Yes she was very successful in that role, but for me she was poison. My TV immediately turned off when she was on. Mainly because the show forced her down the audience's throat. My friends used to call ATWT- the "Jennifer Landon Hour".

RKK was an EXCELLENT Bo recast! IA with so many on your list. Loved Mark Valley as Jack as well.

How is KM a miscast as Hope? Its not like there was much to go off of before her. I think she's a good fit for the young good ingenue she was hired to play

With Kim Matula, I just think there is nothing interesting about her. Hope lacks personality completely. Hope is the most boring character ever on B&B in my opinion. There is so little spark with her. So little of anything. The writing is bad for all characters, so I cannot blame the writing for Hope's dullness. So I conclude that it's the actress who is as dry as a martini.

With RKK, there was just something about him that to me read sleazy and creepy. I will add that I am no huge fan of Bo Brady the character. Peter Reckell works in the part, but Bo will never be a favorite of mine. ;)

Linda Gibboney was an excellent Gina on SB. I realize that the part was written with Robin Mattson in mind and that Gibboney was basically a placeholder, but I loved her. The fans at the time agreed. I grew to love Mattson quickly but I missed Gibboney.

1) Katie Logan used to be everything that Katie Logan is not anymore. They completely changed that character when Heather Tom took over.

2) I'll get hated for this, but I do not like Heather Tom. I think she's a good actress, just not THAT good to win every frickin Emmy. To me she always comes off as arrogant and annoyed, no matter what scene.

Katie had been off the show for years when Heather took over the role. I don't think her transformation was completely unrealistic. Katie was still very young when the character left the first time, and she had grown up while she was away.

Personally I think Donna's transformation was much more unbelievable. At least Heather Tom and Nancy Sloan (original Katie) looked somewhat similar, whereas Jennifer Gareis and Donna Mitchum look nothing like each other. And Donna's personality changed much more than Katie's.

Is it unbeleivable that a decent naive young girl with self esteem issues would grow up into a decent mature confident woman? Katie did not completely change. HT's rendition of her when the character returned in 2006 was a natural progression of the character which made sense. She still served as the moral center of the Logan family and had values and self respect

    • This is (maybe) overly simplistic and nonsoapy, but Doug needs to go to Gamblers Anonymous, to deal with the addictive neurological excitement hits that gambling gives him - and which control his life. Vanessa needs to go to therapy to find ways to remain healthfully lusty and sex-positive, but to stay away from anyone who would demean her.
    • YT keeps commending GL clips to me. I discovered Kathleen Cullen was on in Christmas 1987. Was there any talk of making it permanent  or was this just a special visit? I wish they had made the visit permanent. I liked her chemistry with Grant Aleksander.
    • I'm not sure it's as unpopular as you think.  I just think the show knew they were in a bind, and needed a proven couple for the viewers to invest in. Trying to reunite Vanessa and Ross had just failed in 87. I don't think Ed and Holly's affair was well received, as Simon and Garrett had a brother/sister chemistry. Enter Billy and Vanessa, who give you history and an out not to try and do a Josh/Reva/Billy triangle, which would've really wrecked the relationship between Josh and Billy. I'd have been ok with trying Vanessa/Ross again, and doing a Vanessa/Ross/Holly/Billy quad for a while. I hated Nadine. HATED. She had to be the most insufferable also-ran before ATWT's Julia Lindsay. This is where I wish I knew Roger's history better.

    • GROSS. Michael Swan was hot back in his ATWT days. Now he's 76 and WAY past his hot years.
    • Since she kidnapped, locked up and tried to kill her father's wife I'd say that is still a pretty big deal
    • I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.
    • No. There might have been a slight pause for dramatic effect after his "death," but pretty soon after they showed him in France getting plastic surgery and getting involved with his doctor, then planning with her to bring Christina to France. (She thought he had good reason to do it; she wasn't a bad person or anything). Now that I think of it, there must have been some kind of pause before that, during the 70s. Rita was accused of killing a private patient for an inheritance when she lived in Texas. Part of the backstory was that Roger had been there, too. Not sure exactly when or how long that was.
