I guess it is likely 1975 was probably the last time it was mentioned. I assume once Laura came on all talk of another child probably went out the door. Some actors have great memories for their character's past though, even minor forgotten details, so possibly. I guess if she carried that with her character for years it may have burned in her memory.

ETA: This has been kicking in my memory for a while and related to Denise, just a bit of fun trivia. I had a 1972 issue of Daytime TV that I have since lost, but it listed in error Denise Alexander as star of General Hospital, haha. It is almost like it was destined to happen. I wish I still had it. I remember having to double check to make sure.

Gail Baldwin brought up Lesley's other lost child in a conversation she and Lesley had when Pat Falken Smith was writing GH; circa 1980. After that, as far as I know, nothing. So...after 41 years of going unmentioned, Denise Alexander might be the only one left who remembers the child ever existed.

The question would have to be posed to Alexander by someone from SON. Most of the people working in today's soap press are way too young, or way too ignorant of history, to ask such a question, sad to say.

I can hear it now: Alan Locher, "Denise Alexander started on GH in the 1970s and her character had another lost child? WOW, that's CRAZY!"

Hi i am new to this board and most definitely happy to have found it. I love old school #GH!. I know that this is an old post but this person is so wrong about Heather. Heather had an unhappy home life. She set out to seduce Peter Taylor, but then set her sites on Jeff Webber. Heather exposed Monica’s affair with Rick so that she could get her claws in Jeff. She got pregnant ON PURPOSE to trap Jeff, and then when he didn’t want to marry her, she came up with the scheme to claim that the baby had died, but she in fact sold him!

Welcome

While I appreciate your grasp on the history of GH, my point may have been lost over time.  I was suggesting that if the same story was told today we might have more empathy for Heather.  After all, it takes two to tango, so it is difficult to "trap" someone into pregnancy when everyone is responsible for their own birth control.  Jeff was a doctor, and son of the chief of staff at the hospital, who after being sexually rejected sought comfort in the bed of a younger woman.  He then used his status to persuade everyone that Heather had nefarious motives and his indiscretions were never questioned.  Meanwhile, Jeff had romances with patients, nurses and other doctors that would seem unprofessional at the very least.  He then left town as soon as Heather found out she was pregnant with very few options but to sell her baby, only to return with a new face and a new virginal girlfriend to help solidify his reputation.  It was enough to drive a girl insane, with or without LSD laced tea.

In summary, I was trying to say that hindsight gives us new perspectives on old stories.

I had my moments of sympathy towards Heather # 2, but she was by no means innocent. She sought Jeff out, not the other way around. I really felt bad for her once they were married and she ended up having a miscarriage, hence her need to get Steven Lars back from Diana, by driving her insane! Jeff was no saint, but neither was Heather by far.

Heather created her own animosity towards herself. She was rude, mean and looked down on people, especially her cousin, Susan Moore.

    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.
