The Special Report for 10/2/79 is Pope John Paul II speaking at the UN General Assembly, for those who like to keep track of preemptions.

As we get more ratings posted, would this be the last time that AW would score a higher rating than DAYS?

It would be nice if Nielsen always listed what the special report is about, but a lot of times all it says is special report!

The complete weekly ratings for the 1980's have never been available before, so I don't think anyone would know this question as of yet. But it's one of many that will be easily answerable once all the charts are posted!

In the 80s thread, AW rated higher than DAYS the week of Jan. 28, 1980.  There are also several weeks posted where AW tied or is only one tenth of ratings point below DAYS.

Wow Search in 3rd place.

A combination of Y&R lead in and the Corringtons writing. Competition was Ryans Hope and Password Plus.

In Feb 80 Y&R moved slots and that affected Search's ratings. And the the writers roundabout began...

I had no idea that Y&R was so popular this early in its run. That makes it easier to understand why CBS wanted to expand it to an hour..
