To be fair, people were excited for different reasons. I was thrilled because I was hoping we'd get something new and fresh. Others were happy because they thought this meant that the shows would be exactly the same. As the few details/rumors have emerged we're seeing that neither case is true. If and when these shows air, I might still get something fresh and new but that obviously isn't PP's goal. The people who want to everything to be the same aren't going to get that either. AMC's cast will be very different and OLTL is going to have a new creative team.

That's assuming either of these shows see the light of day.

*tears* BUT IT'S TEARING. THIS FAMILY. APARRRRRRT.

No, really. Yall have at it with the conjecture and speculation! I don't want to come across as that poster who tells others how/what to post. It's just that, when things get a little heated, I think it's good to be reminded that we don't really know a whole lot, so before anyone cuts anyone, let's just cool off and wait for the next droplet of information.

lol are things heated in here? I haven't noticed it just seems like a lot of speculation and some overreaction to some rumors thats all. Typical stuff isn't it? In fact this site barring a few exceptions seems to be more evenly balanced than some others and you can actually speculate and debate for the most part without being accused of being a hater or fangurl.

Max, I'm not sure what you want from people here and I do think you mean well but to me this is both melodramatic and condescending. We don't have any new indicators of the quality of these new shows, and I remain as interested as I ever was. Of course everyone has doubts and concerns and theories, but I am not seeing any widespread "change in attitude" or "false hopes" or "disappointment" or anything of the sort.

We know very, very little about how these shows are going to work, what's going into them and how they will turn out. I would welcome a very new and different AMC and OLTL that still retain some of their core identifying traits. We'll all form our opinions when we see the shows for ourselves. You seem to want us to do exactly the opposite, and declare them doomed or ourselves disappointed and up-optimistic. And nothing personal, but given the consistent tenor of your posts that seems to have more to do with you and your needs from the fans in this situation than with us, our needs, or the future of these two soaps.

Vee, I apologize for being condescending. (That was not my intention, though I could certainly understand why you could see it that way.) That was very nice for you to say that I was well-meaning (which I am).

I don't really "want" anything from the posters here, but I am just trying to advise them to avoid the dangers of holding onto false hope. That way, if these online soaps turn out to be failures, they will not get emotionally burned again. However, if the PP venture is a success, these ABC soap fans (who were initially pessimistic) will be in for a very pleasant surprise.

I am not really that upset with the minority of fans who have a Pollyannaish view of how things will be. Rather, the people at whom I am really upset are the soap press, given that they are refusing to question the true motives of PP, and instead seem to be promoting the notion that this PP deal will automatically mean great things for AMC and OLTL fans, as well as for the soap genre as a whole. (Of course, I have not read every single article written by the soap press, so there could be a hard-hitting article written about PP of which I am unaware. However, most--if not all--of the articles I have read on this matter have portrayed PP in a very favorable light.) I would caution anyone against believing anything favorable written about PP in the soap press, given that the soap press has a financial stake in the venture being a success (since many soap magazines will likely fold if there are only four daytime soaps left to cover); to me, it's obvious that so few in the soap press have been willing to ask the critical questions about PP (and their real motives in acquiring AMC and OLTL), precisely because their very jobs depend upon this online venture being a smashing success. (By the way, before anybody accuses me of being a disgruntled and bitter P&G soap fan, I should say that I don't believe that the soap press cares about the Nixon soaps anymore than the P&G soaps. The only reason why the soap press did not come to the aid of the P&G soaps in a similar manner was simply because the soap press could still survive when the number of soaps on the air was reduced from eight to six; they cannot, however, survive when the number of soaps drops from six to four.)

Just read the Susan Lucci interview in People Magazine titled "Life After Erica Kane." Nothing new in the article we already don't know. La Lucci says she is unsure whether she will participate in the PP production. She's doing some gigs with Regis which was previously reported I believe in TV Guide. Helmut says he would like to see her tackle a sitcom.

This article is in Sept 19 issue of People with Kate Gosselin and her kids on the cover.
