Um, so we have that ever lengthy thread on classic Y&R articles and discussion, I was wondering if we could do one for B&B? I mean the whole show is a hot mess and has been well at least since 2007/2008 and unwatchable but I'd like to think back to when I loved the show 1991ish-2006. A lot of stories liked and/or remember well have now been long forgotten like Ivana's murder and the mystery around it, Macy vs. Karen, Connor(someone mentioned him recently!) Dylan and Michael, CJ/Becky, Sly, Grant. Hell Macy was my favorite character right after Sally of course.

Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.

Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

@MaximDid you see my thoughts on 1997 and early 1998 on the previous page of this thread? What would you agree/disagree with?

I’ve reached the summer of 1998.

Until now, my impression has been that the show has steadily improved since the great quality dip of 1994, reaching as high as 8/10 in 1997. Sure, I could complain about a few things in 1997 (Claudia got wasted after her initial storyline; Thorne’s feelings for Taylor were a bit too sudden; the storyline where Sheila lived with James and Maggie while pregnant got rather boring; Mike periodically revisiting Sheila despite being on the run from authorities), but overall it was a very strong year.

Here I agree 100 percent. The show definitely has improved from the low points after 1994. And it's approaching a more familiar era where things are not as uncertain as before. Claudia in my opinion was very bad one dimensional character, that Bradley struggled with a lot. And I agree that Thorne's sudden love for Taylor was absurd. Maggie - another confused mess that never worked for me.

I liked the Thorne/Taylor/Ridge triangle, the mystery plot about who shot Grant, the sham wedding to trap Sheila, Stephanie/Eric/Lauren, and Clarke manipulating his way back to working at Forrester. I even liked the Greenland storyline with Eric/Lauren/Rush, although I had expected to hate it. Maybe 1996 tops 1997 in raw soapy excitement (especially as Sheila got a chance to interact with a larger canvas of characters), but certain problems with overall storyline cohesion puts it somewhat below 1997 for me.

I don't agree with you here. I didn't like the Thorne-Taylor-Ridge thing and I think it was repetitive and stupid. And it made Taylor look incredibly Brooke-ish and overall bad. She was starting to lose her appeal during this time for me.

Stephanie-Lauren fight was iconic, but very rushed.

The Greenland storyline was absolutely horrifyingly bad and over the top.

- Maggie’s character really got trashed after James left her to be with Sheila, and the early 1998 storylines where she imprisoned Sheila in the house from Psycho, or installed those wires and mikes and such in her house to make her think she’s going crazy, were total GARBAGE. So much so that the latter storyline (and Maggie with it) pretty much disappeared into a limbo.

This I agree 100 percent. Maggie didn't work from that moment on for me. The Psycho house stuff was laughable.

- I have mixed feelings about the twins plotline with Lauren. No way did Rush survive being shot with a crossbow through the chest, and the romance between Lauren and Rush’s good twin brother Johnny was rather dry to me. I did however enjoy the camp aspect of Rush taking his brother’s place to be with Lauren, and Eric rescuing her. But it doesn’t appear like Bell cared too much about the Johnny/Lauren romance beyond the twin storyline gimmick, and it too disappeared in an unsatisfactory manner (come on, why not hire Johnny’s actor for just 5 more episodes for an arc where he realizes Lauren is not over Eric, or JUST SOMETHING?)

The twins stuff was bad. The acting was bad... Lauren looking like the bad twin is going to devour her 24/7 was too much for me. Eric was very cringe also in this storyline.

On the plus side, I like the plotline of Thorne being neighbors with Macy and Grant, and we’ve finally been introduced to the SORASed Rick/Amber/CJ crowd. The Stephanie/James/Sheila triangle is also starting, and it makes me excited (I remember seeing some if it in my childhood). I know Sheila, Grant, and James are all leaving soon, which I honestly kind of dread - between them and Clarke’s near-absence, it feels like herd is going to get culled too much in the near future. But I know there’s the familiar 1999-2002 to look forward to.

I agree. I liked the addition of Amber... and I also like Stephanie's revived feud with Sheila.

What is to come is better and better.

Overall - thank you so much for writing these reviews. They are super amazing and even when I differ in opinion, I love to read them! You have a talent for writing reviews!

@rsclassicfanforever thank you very much for the recent uploads of season 13 containing some episodes that were skipped or glitchy on YouTube!

I had a look at 3172 though and there is no audio for most of it? Would you have a copy with complete audio? Fingers crossed! Thanks again! 🙏

Sorry, there must have been a error, while creating the file. I redone it and it has audio :)

Thanks, I put the corrected one in the other folder with the rest.

I am confused now about the two versions of 3170.

The one that Christos did would be the RTL Lounge recording (without end credits and subtitles) and the one @rsclassicfanforever did would be the Videoland version with end credits and no subtitles). Is that what you mean by two versions? @BoldRestless

I do mean those two, but when I download them, the Chris from Greece version is from RTL with subtitles and starts with a doctor greeting Stephanie and the rsclassicfanfanforever version is from Videoland, no subtitles and starts with Tawny and Becky? Sorry if this was already discussed. Is the Chris version merged with another episode? That one is longer.
