That was lovely! These two episodes have been just fantastic. The only real tea was Cady saying the writer who killed her off with poisoned pancakes was punishing her (which everyone guessed), who was that? I can't recall. Pratt?

Did they ever solve the mystery of who really "murdered" Dixie?  IIRC, Alexander Cambias, aka The Satin Slayer, insisted that killing someone with poisoned pancakes was too ghetto for him.  Was he just misdirecting the police, or did they prove someone else "offed" Dixie and made it look like the SS's doing?

Agreed wish Darnell would have been asked about Jesse and Angie.

And Jill should have been asked about James Mitchell.

I'd rate Ep 1 higher -- the smaller group allows for more time for each to speak.

Today MEK and Darnell weren't given enough time...they were the show's leads for decades, and could have carried their own episode just the two of them.  Especially Darnell who we rarely hear from.  MEK has done several interviews in the last year -- he's a chatterbox one-on-one.  Today, he gallantly deferred to his female counterparts -- and Jennifer, Cady and Jill were amazing.  But I do wish the guys had been given more time to contribute.

But overall, these AMC reunions are excellent !  Very well done and although he's too young to remember AMC in its 80s heyday, Gerry Hall is doing well as hose / interviewer.

Yep, when McTavish's final run at AMC really became awful.  It barely even seemed like she or any other HW was in charge.  Not because the writing was bad-and it was--but McTavish has had bad writing eras before, but it just really felt like suddenly no one knew what they were doing (Pratt's final months being similar).

LOved the story about director Kaplan's notes (he was a regular at AMC from 1977-97)  Interesting when they started talking about AMC being the best soap--something of course some actors, for a myriad reasons, seemed more keen to say than others (reasons like maybe they were on another soap for a long time, maybe their character didn't have the best writing, etc)

    • Thanks!   Was anyone watching during this time? Wondering how Peggy’s rape played out onscreen. It just seems cruel to subject the Brooks family to this trauma a 2nd time.   Feels like the writers have already given up on the character of Jennifer, even though she sticks around another year-plus. She should be a passionate and fierce protective mother, but instead she seems just reactionary (and not even mentioned in this recap) This was also the case in ‘73 when Chris was raped. The writers are definitely more invested Stuart as the Brooks parent.
    • BTG got another SNL reference at 00:50  CONTEXT (so it isn't misconstrued) in this joke swap segment, Michael Che frequently makes his white cohost Colin Jost read racist jokes written by Che.

    • It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation. I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.
    • Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster. Congratulations to Austria. 0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over

    • Hahaha Sorry if I was too negative, I just started typing and typing once I got going hahaha
    • @dc11786 Thanks for taking time to answer my various questions, along with giving your thoughts on the different writing teams. I wonder why they didn't just have Ryder and TR leave together if Jane was going anyway. The discussions over the last few pages have made me more interested in watching these episodes than I have been over the years - without the extra details and analyses provided, these years can be difficult to decipher (not helped by how often Jo seems like a side character).
    • I didn't think this was very good (I've never yet seen a good episode of this revival), but you do get a lot of Michael Stroka. And if you are a Donna Reed Show fan, you also get Paul Petersen.

    • A very rare, fascinating look at camera blocking in a 1980 episode. Very loose, almost startlingly so (who expects to see Will Vernon with a cig dangling out of his mouth?). @vetsoapfan There's some Jacquie Courtney content in the back half of the video.
