I know many fans enjoyed that storyline, but I just didn't see the point of it.  I mean, we KNOW Erica was not going to STAY disfigured, nor was it going to trigger some period of introspection where she learned to rely on something other than her looks; so, again, what was the point?

I could be wrong, but I think Dixie’s development was the driving force for Cady leaving. She's mentioned before how after a while she didn't feel challenged in the role. And I agree with her.

You are not alone. I enjoyed it, and her potential romance with David.

Wait—Phantom Erica was Agnes’s storyline. I remember Susan Lucci mentioning in interviews that Agnes introduced the story to her, and Susan was taken aback because it closely resembled her own car accident and trip to the emergency room.

As for Palmer’s stolen Nazi art storyline, I can’t remember who wrote it, but it was quickly abandoned. I only recall one scene where he was gazing at a painting with lust in his eyes—and then it was never mentioned again.

Well the storyline was intended to bring David and Erica closer together. David is one of her best pairings ever, in my opinion, and I wish Lorraine Broderick had the opportunity to revisit their relationship in 2011.

Do I have Phantom Erica in the timeline confused?  Of course maybe Agnes suggested it as she was still an active part of the writer's room even when not HW, in the 1990s

Nazi art WAS McTavish though 100% (I think Hayley's psychic bleeding tattoo was too, with someone from Adam's past wanting revenge, etc.)

AND some research shows you're right--Phantom Erica was one of Agnes' first storylines when Agnes Nixon returned as official HW in 1999.

McTavish v.2's main story for Erica was the resurrection of Mike Roy which I think most found to be a bust (and as a teen to me meant nothing as I had no idea who this Mike was--)

Problem with Phantom Erica was that the show treated it like a joke instead of actually using the car accident and scar to really delve into Erica's constant need to be beautiful and the best.

This could have helped Erica realize that she was definitely more then a pretty face and that she didn't have to rely on physical beauty in order to be taken seriously.  I kind of think Agnes Nixon seemed unwilling to evolve nor mature Erica

ICAM!!  As it was, once the storyline concluded, it was largely forgotten (by the characters, if not by the audience), which shouldn't be the consequence of any storyline, IMO.

Oh, I was SO disappointed by how that turned out.  Not only was the magic between Susan Lucci and Nicolas Surovy gone, but again, what was the point?  You knew Mike/Surovy was not sticking around - I think the soap mags made that clear - so why bother resurrecting Mike and teasing him and Erica again?  So she and Jack could have ANOTHER reason to split up AGAIN?  And the twist that Mike had faked his death because he was really a secret agent or some mess...meh, I just washed my hands of the whole thing and walked away, lol.

I hate that type of overly personal, ambush questioning. People call actors divas if they want pre-arranged questions, but this is why they do. She was clearly very shaken up at being asked that question. And some people just never move on to another love. Real life is not a soap opera, much as it may seem to be at times.

And the added "It's time" really didn't sit well with me. I'm sure no bad intentions... But still... Kinda unintentionally vile.

There is no "it's time" for things like this.

    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set ablaze?). Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole now live in the tack house.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
