AM was fun to watch her first year when Kendall was babysitting Petey, letting JR cop a feel, and ordering weird drinks at The Valley Inn, but once they moved her into "star" position, the character just got way too serious, and AM could never make her personality shine through that.

Its unnecesary tension and I dont think SMG is worth the hassle. Its not like she's at her peak when she'd be more of a prize getting back. There are TONS of former actors/characters who have come nad gone from the show that I feel need to come back. SMG is not one of them nor do I see TPTB even considering her.

Product placement with a bunch of characters who are thugs, sociopaths, and who barely even shrug when a child is killed by a drunk driver? Good luck with that.

I realize GH's demos are similar to Y&R's, so they are close in ratings in the demo that counts, but the show is not a good performer, and if it were, then it would have been thisclose to being canceled. Frons is keeping it on because he has fetishized the show, and for no other reason, IMO.

Raise your hand if you thought just Kendall's very conception was symptomatic and emblematic of AMC's problems as a whole, regardless of which actress portrayed her? Just me? Okay, I'll shut up then.

Word.

TPTB probably thinks SMG is unattainable, and even still, I don't think they'd poo poo all over AM like that. Regardless of our personal preferences, she's played the shrew for nine and a half years, and I see no reason why she shouldn't play her to end. Kendall is no longer the character SMG played, anyway, so there'd be no point.

I'd agree, it's a very McTavish story, especially the rape aspect and the retconned past.

But something about the early McTavish years were a bit different than her other stints. Maybe it's becuase Behr and Nixon and a better staff of writers were there to ground her inane material.

We disagree on that. I think she's fine for lead and has been fine in lead, but no one character should dominate the show, or no four for that matter.

I'm leaving the Kendall stuff in here. It doesn't seem completely on-topic for either this thread or the tribute thread. The "could SMG come back?" back and forth seems less inappropriate for this thread, so here it stays.

I'm sure the conversation will eventually become less and less about that and more and more about the topic. I hope, lol. I'll do my best to help with that effort.

Is he really boasting about GH's 1.1 to 1.2 in 18-49? Really?

Well, I agree with that. She does show up for her scenes, which is something I'm coming to appreciate in soap actors more and more as time goes on. That's something AM has in common with Lucci. I can't remember ever watching either of them and wishing they would wake the f*ck up. Considering that they really overused Kendall for awhile there (to the point where I just couldn't take it anymore), that's an accomplishment in itself.
