I didn't realize she had a quote about sticking to the same formula, here it is since it goes back to a prior discussion about her:

Loved that SNL Thanksgiving miracle.

This is only after one listen, so songs may grown on me as I listen to it more.  I thought the album was good but not spectacular.  I liked 9 out of the 14 songs. So far my favourites are: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Water Under The Bridge.  The songs are definitely not at the caliber of 21's songs.  There are no really big songs like: Someone Like You, Rolling In The Deep, Turning Tables, Set Fire To The Rain.

See, and her humility is one of the main reasons I've always enjoyed her. Just to clarify my thoughts, she doesn't have to do anything different at all. I'd love to see her grow and change and evolve, but I'm not hating on the new album. She's the best mainstream vocalist of her time and, as noted above, will destroy the competition every step of the way.

I don't know if you knew this, Toups, but apparently SML(TYNL) was partially inspired by Adele and Ryan Tedder going to lunch and hearing Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble." He told her Max Martin produced it, and she went back to a song she had written at 13 (after being inspired by listening to Amy Winehouse) and just fleshed it out. Knowing that now, I can definitely hear some of the influence of IKYWT in the song.

Yup, I knew about it. I keep up on Max Martin news.  :)   I'm pretty sure that the song will be released as a single and it will go to #1.  And it will get Max closer to Paul McCartney's record of most #1s as a writer.

This is why Adele is the best: The #1 superstar in the world, yet no diva no conceit and just really, really nice and humble:

It's almost physically painful to see her having to hold back on US TV shows  You know she's just itching to curse a storm.

JFC! 25 just might go ahead and sell crazy numbers like 21 in the long run!

    • no argument here! and as she was singing, i kept wondering how many verses ‘amazing grace’ had. looked it up: 13 — 13! — and i think she must have sung  every one.
    • Yasss, ANITA!!! GET HER!!!   Awww at Smitty calming Martin down.   'Oh, you're the one leaving.' That face like stone. Go 'head, Nicole.    Eva vs Kat...the gift that keeps giving.
    • I have to admit I still have a nagging complaint about timelines - Why aren't we allowed to know how long Ted and Nicole have been married or how old Kat and Eva are? Or for that matter, when Anita last released an album? BTG is a new show with no SORAS or timewarping. MVJ and Guza are working from a fresh bible. There is no need to be so coy about ages and anniversaries, especially when most of the storylines are driven by past events.
    • It was an extremely rare interview even then - I was shocked when I read it (as mentioned I'd forgotten just how far in she went). You could see how hurt and annoyed she was. I'm surprised he thought she came up with the baby story herself. She and Charles Keating did a good job with the material but it was absolute hokum. Even if they loved Carl and Rachel (and clearly they did), I don't see them coming up with stuff that, frankly, read like Geocities fan fic. Malone was clearly hobbled by NBC and P&G, but re-using so many of his old stories and his soap bible instead of actually coming up with material suited to the characters or show did not help.
    • Seeing this trash get good ratings says nothing good about daytime audiences. It's embarrassing.
    • Cat does feel committed to being a goofball (the other term has been reconsidered in recent years).  I wonder, given her brother Aaron, if Cat was less attractive prior to the surgery?  Remember the 1973 movie The Girl Most Likely to?  My fanfic for the moment is Cat commenting on how people treat her differently now that she is gorgeous.  One assumes that pre-surgery, Cat never had two men fighting over her for a date.  So, it might be fun to see that side of the story.
    • It's probably one of the only conflicts the story will have, aside from Dante being upset with Lulu when the truth comes out. They really needed someone else who actually knows Gio is Dante and Brook Lyn's son and kept quiet.
    • So Cat wasn't a creation of Ron C.. but something that the strike writers generated? Perhaps the new writers will give her some layers and purpose on the show that doesn't revolve around Chad since isn't he on his way out next year?
    • Another good show today, but -- Why is super agent Joss holding that thumb drive in plain sight instead of stashing it in her denim shorts? Make it make sense. -- Dante going after Gio (in the previews) for Rocco's alcohol poisoning is lame and cliche, just a contrived way to drive a wedge between father and son.
    • Didn't he get all angry because the strike writers set her up to be Abigail? And he just went with the first thing that came to mind in order to prevent that?
