November 22, 201510 yr Member Million Years Ago is about, from what I could tell, the loss of innocence as you grow up and looking back on who you were as a child. That alone stood out for me. I could see it being a single, but maybe not right away.
November 22, 201510 yr Member ADELE: BYE BYE BYE, RECORD BOOKS Adele is now on track not just to break the existing record for first-week sales (NSYNC's 2.3m), but to smash it to dust. The current projection for the debut of her new XL/Columbia set, 25, is 2.5-2.9m. Could even this astronomical number be a conservative estimate? Will last night’s SNL performance push her still further into the stratosphere? How huge is huge? http://hitsdailydoub.../news&id=298650 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't realize she had a quote about sticking to the same formula, here it is since it goes back to a prior discussion about her: Edited November 22, 201510 yr by BetterForgotten
November 23, 201510 yr Administrator Loved that SNL Thanksgiving miracle. This is only after one listen, so songs may grown on me as I listen to it more. I thought the album was good but not spectacular. I liked 9 out of the 14 songs. So far my favourites are: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Water Under The Bridge. The songs are definitely not at the caliber of 21's songs. There are no really big songs like: Someone Like You, Rolling In The Deep, Turning Tables, Set Fire To The Rain.
November 24, 201510 yr Member Slay: In just over three days, 25 is already the top-selling album of the year so far, outpacing the 1.8 million copies Taylor Swift's blockbuster 1989 has sold in 2015. (Swift's album, released last fall, has moved 5.4 million to date.) It's also sold nearly five times the copies of Justin Bieber's Purpose, which previously had the biggest first-week sales of any 2015 album with 522,000 albums sold since Nov. 13. The numbers are even more impressive, considering that 25 does not have the added boost of streaming figures factored into its overall sales. (The album is not yet available on music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.) Edited November 24, 201510 yr by BetterForgotten

Just to clarify my thoughts, she doesn't have to do anything different at all. I'd love to see her grow and change and evolve, but I'm not hating on the new album. She's the best mainstream vocalist of her time and, as noted above, will destroy the competition every step of the way.

I don't know if you knew this, Toups, but apparently SML(TYNL) was partially inspired by Adele and Ryan Tedder going to lunch and hearing Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble." He told her Max Martin produced it, and she went back to a song she had written at 13 (after being inspired by listening to Amy Winehouse) and just fleshed it out. Knowing that now, I can definitely hear some of the influence of IKYWT in the song.

I'm pretty sure that the song will be released as a single and it will go to #1. And it will get Max closer to Paul McCartney's record of most #1s as a writer. Edited November 25, 201510 yr by Toups
November 27, 201510 yr Member 25 sells more than 3 million copies! This was on Thursday, with one day left for the first week. http://www.ew.com/article/2015/11/26/adele-25-sales-3-million Edited November 27, 201510 yr by YRBB
November 28, 201510 yr Member No one is ever going to beat that record, it took over 15 years for Adele to smash the NSYNC record, and other than Adele currently, no one is selling close to that amount in their first week. And yes, you know Taylor Swift wishes....
November 30, 201510 yr Member This is why Adele is the best: The #1 superstar in the world, yet no diva no conceit and just really, really nice and humble: It's almost physically painful to see her having to hold back on US TV shows You know she's just itching to curse a storm. 3.38 Million sold in the first week in the US JFC! 25 just might go ahead and sell crazy numbers like 21 in the long run!
