Joshua Morrow has made it very clear that his preference is Phyllis/Nick, fine whatever, a lot of actors have preferences, however because he's been so dismissive of Nick's other potential pairings it just comes off as a slight against the actresses (Sharon and Maura). In addition, lately he somehow manages to turn every question about Nick into a reason or justification for why Phyllis and Nick should be reunited.

I can't agree with that. I think Nick, Victoria (but I want a recast, Amelia just doesn't cut it for me), Victor and Nikki should be on this show.

I'd gladly volunteer Chloe, Kevin, Heather, Chance, Jana, NuNotMalcolm, and Sofia though.

And I know on one level I shouldn't take it as JM saying "I don't want to work with Maura"...but I do. And it drives me nuts. Morrow is to Y&R as Ronn Moss is to B&B. STFU, strip off your shirt and at least look interested in what the other person's saying.

MaurafreakingWest is MauraFREAKINGWest, two time emmy award winner. At least be smart enough to say, "I'd love to work with her." I had to sit through years of interviews from both Michael Park and Maura where they'd at least talk up the story.

For me it's not either/or - I think top to bottom there's so much fat to cut. I would not get rid of Nikki or Victor, but I think Victoria needs a long rest, as she is pathetic in every way, and that's the writing more than the acting (she is a bratty teenager in a middle-aged woman's body).

I just don't see what Nick brings to the show now. Shick are sick. Phick are played out. Nick/Diane seem like filler to me. Cassie is gone. Faith was a plot device and will probably never have anything interesting to do. Is Noah even on the show now?

There is something so very tired about the Newman relationships. I think MAB has destroyed the family. For me they were destroyed when they huddled around praising Victor's abusive behavior after Patty shot him.

I think Y&R needs to send a message to lazy actors who wait for the writing to cater to them.

I guess I'm much more merciless, b/c I definitely believe it is time to phase out Victor, Nikki, Nick, Victoria, Phyllis, Noah, Abby and the Abbotts.

I think the Abbotts have already been phased out - Jack and Chompers are useless, and Ashley has little story. Phyllis I would slowly phase out, yes. Noah is already basically gone. I would send Victoria away for about a year and send Shick away for even longer, if not for good.

I would not get rid of Victor because I think he is too important to the older male demo that is still with Y&R. I would just change the writing for him.

I would keep Nikki mostly because I think she is central to what Y&R represents - evolution and regression, a class system, self-destructiveness and self-respect. She's a fascinating character and she has survived more shi!!y regimes intact than almost anyone.

I dont get how or why Meggie is wearing that red lipstick. I didnt know they let make up in jail. I also dont understand how Meggie keeps making statements like "break me outta here" and stuff to that effect on the prison phone. Aren't those phone lines tapped? Its just lazy storytelling with lazy writers. MAB and Hacks need to go. I hope the ratings keep falling.

Is it just me but does it seem like some storylines are confusing or go with which ever the way the wind blows?

And why is Sharon's hair so frizzy?

I actually think it is a slight against the other actresses in this case. I haven't read his most recent interviews, but in the past his reason for wanting Phick is that he has so much fun working with MS. If I have to pick between Shick and Phick, I do choose Phick, but I don't give a damn who is having fun on the set and who isn't. It's a job, not recess. The sense of entitlement rankles.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
    • Wasn't there a break in Zaslow's first run? I thought Roger was off-screen for a while, and when Zas came back, Roger was hiding at the boarding house and Nola figured out there was something hinkey about him. I'm pretty sure Simon chose to leave the first time and was replaced by RVV. I don't want to assume Jordan's issues played a role in his first departure, but Maeve said in an interview that at some point, it became very hard for her to work with him and she asked to work with him less. That seems to fit 1986, where suddenly Vanessa is essentially Ross' law clerk and not at every Lewis family moment.
    • He needs to divorce her arse with her constant cheating.   She's no better than Doug... she's F*cking pathetic.
    • I didn't know of any interruptions for Maeve Kinkead after her 1997 return. Her runs would then be 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-2000, short arcs until the end. I knew Maureen Garrett second run was interrupted from a 2009 interview but I couldn't recall the exact year. Her runs would then be 1976-1980, 1988-2000, short arcs until the end.
    • As I said in May, I have no problem with Martin and Bradley being married. You can still do all the fun introloper storylines with them as you do everyone else. Both men of a certain age, and it is very believable for them to have either a first love or have been previously married. And, you can do it without either of them cheating!

I said something similar during the premiere week. Bill was the perfect age to play Martin as Vernon and Anita's child. I would've much preferred this version, but oh well.
    • I don't know how you want to count Maeve. She "retired" in '00, but would come back for appearances. I don't know however if she made an appearance in '01 or '03. In '02 I believe she came back for Josh and Reva's wedding. I assume she came back when Gina Tognoni took over the role of Dinah. And I know she was back for Ross' memorial service. Maureen Garrett was around until at least '00. I don't think Holly was in town when Ben returned though. I just got pissed off about Jerry all over again.
    • So, pretty sure Zaslow, Garrett, Kinkead, and Newman all chose to leave the first time. (If that's wrong, please correct me). Bernau - not sure why he left the first time. Was it voluntary? Or did they decide to write him out? They were writing so many out during that time period. It always seemed odd to me that they introduced Alex, FINALLY giving him someone he could talk to, and then he was written out. Or maybe that's why they made Alex his sister, so she could take his place as the head of the Spaulding family? Would love more intel on that if anyone knows. Simon - was he replaced by RVV? Or did he voluntarily leave the first time? It seems to me like one of those times TPTB decided to sex up or glamorize a character (and it clearly flopped). If he was fired, interesting he came back. Again, would love if someone could spill the tea. Clarke - I've always assumed he left because of his personal issues, but not sure if that was the case the first time.
    • So Doug just leaves Vanessa there with Joey? He's a f*cking loser. Vanessa needs to divorce his arse
