I think it's more about him than it is demeaning the soap. I think he means well, but his schtick as "that crazy actor James Franco, what will he do next?" is a bit tired. He's a better actor than that RL performance art he is attempting, and it just comes off pretentious. I thought they had a good idea with his GH character but it's been executed so poorly.
