It would be quite funny to have Victoria knocked off her perch by finding out that she isn't named after Victor. I don't remember it ever being brought up.

Summer knows, because they thought she was Jack's daughter that time. I feel like Kyle should know because articles have been written about Diane. But in those articles Diane's apparent only crime is faking her death and whatever Griffith made up offscreen. They never bring up her arson or sperm stealing.

EDIT: Were Victor and Nikki together or divorced when Nick was conceived? I'm Realizing that Nick grew up with his parents never being married.

I know this was posted already but it's interesting to see how much a documentary broadcast on E! got incorrect. Guiding Light went to television in 1952 not 57, they say Irna Phillips co-created not story editied DAYS. Jamie Lyn Bauer played Lori not Jennifer, yet they say she played Lori in part 2. Then they said she played Laura Horton on DAYS before not after Y&R.

The full episode hasn't surfaced but from the clips, Victor got drunk in his devastation over Ashley's marriage to Steven and it also looked like Victor got a little rough with Nikki.

@ironlion I never got Ryan's appeal and can't figure out how he lasted for 10 years. He basically replaced Chase Benson (whom I don't think even got a proper exit storyline; he stopped appearing in late 1990 or early 1991) in the up-and-coming Jabot executive ranks. I also wonder if Bill Bell used Ryan to fill the void left from killing off Phillip III.

Ryan was always a such a selfish dolt to me, probably lasting on Reeves’ sexy body and charm at the time for him to last longer than he should have. Probably the only beat the show missed was him having a steamy shocking one night stand with Jill in early 1996 which the show seemed so poised to do but backed off. I don’t think of Ryan as apologetic, and I do believe his death at Tricia’s hands was obviously the ultimate karma for cheating on Nina with her.

I think if Chase had lasted we’d probably gotten a more well rounded triangle between him, Nina, and Victoria would have occurred with Chase being more respectful of the two women when Ryan never was.

I hadn’t even thought of Ryan filling a void for Phillip III though…I can imagine had Phillip III lived (and been recast) and ended up hooking up with Victoria in 1991-92 it would’ve caused quite some volatility between Victor, Nikki, Jill, and Katherine.

@soapfan770 Yeah, early 1996 it looked like there was going to be a Jill/Ryan hookup but it didn't happen. Instead we got that awful Nina/Ryan/Victoria/Cole quad.

For whatever reason Bill Bell put teenage Victoria in the orbit of college-aged adults instead of building a teen group around her like he would w/ Nick a few years later.

@kalbirIndeed it’s struck me as odd in retrospect that Bell didn’t set up a teen scene around Victoria despite having a overall consistent teen/young adult scene throughout the 80’s. Instead we had a clearly underage Victoria get married. I suppose we did have Brandon Collins but he was never utilized properly. I think Cole was supposed to just be a couple years older than Victoria, but the show cast a mid-30 something J Eddie Peck. Making matters complicated later on is that both JM and SC are older than HT.

    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.
