Yes. I assume they had access to the entire Columbia Pictures library and they borrowed from it to add on to their originally composed themes for the show. All the old background music really set the tone for the show. They kept using it up till about 2000 when they started to phase it out in favor of new material, which stinks.

Y&R's beautiful, evocative music set such a rich, warm tone for the show, just like DAYS' background music of yore did for that series. It's such a shame that soaps pay little or no attention to their background melodies anymore.

It's posted up on its entirety on Youtube actually. The only downside is that the album mainly has all of the various romantic themes as well as the infamous cheating theme but none of some the more recognizable music that usually got played during catfigthts or dramatic sequences. It's fascinating though that Y&R did retain its original 70's background theme well into the '90s and probably one of the better things of the MAB/Sheffer/Hamner/Rauch era was that MAB did actually restore the soundtrack here and there at the times, including using the Brooks theme as late as 2011.

Lots of people bashed the soundtrack on reviews on Amazon, because they didn't include any of the suspense or more familiar tracks from the 70's-early 90's......I wonder why that was?,  and the only one they were able to get was the "Rainbow" track.....I think they still used that into the 2010's occasionally.....

I didn't know the Brook's Theme track was used into 2011....it's one of my favorites off the 1974 album, but I love the slower rendition of it they played in the 70's.....like from this scene here...

I LOVE the 90s Y&R soundtrack album. My older cousin had it on CD way back when and would play it while she cleaned around the house whenever she was babysitting elementary school-aged AMS. I ripped a good bit of them from YouTube and play them when I want to give my students some quiet time to work in class. In watching 90s episodes online, I was disappointed to see that some of the tunes I've gotten so close to ("Aloneness," "Peaceful," "Look at Me," "Sueno," etc) were never really in heavy rotation. It's very soapy music, fit for daytime.

Yeah it was used when Billy and Victoria first brought home Lucy if I recall right. The other classic theme I remember being played in 2011 is when Victor personally handed over an a grand jury indictment to Jack in June 2011 this theme was playing:

I personally love the Genoa City theme, that was used up through at least 1993:

And of course, my favorite, the 3 A.M. Theme! Or Nick & Grace's theme lol, but it was also used for Diego & Sharon, Sharon & Cameron, Ryan & Tricia, and Neil & Alex etc. I thought it was a late '90s and early '00s theme for affairs, but I have found it was used as early as 1994 for Jill & Jed!

I hate MAB's era, but I wouldn't mind seeing some of those 2011 scenes again just to hear that music....Of course the writing was pure trash, and it wouldn't have ever gone well with the music anyways...

I think the G.C theme was used sporadically till 1998ish....it was played in this scene in this 1995 episode.

haha yeah, they play that music with Jed and Jill at the start of this episode.

Thanks in advance.

Just got word, my 1980 episodes are going to be shipped out tomorrow, so you'll all be seeing them within the week!

One thing, though, apparently only April 14 and June 16, 1980 are the only full episodes, the April 16th one is only a repeat scene from the 14th supposedly. But, Bond Gideon plays Jill in the April 14th one. I also purchased a few episodes from November 1991 surrounding Lauren's baby, Dylan's, death and her grieving. Those should be heart-wrenching. Stay Tuned!

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.
    • For anyone who missed part of yesterday due to the Pope news: BTG Episode #48 - May 8th cbs.com https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/vEQupDSVKChQKTvVWgX8mrUj2kCJEQTv/  paramountplus https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/video/vEQupDSVKChQKTvVWgX8mrUj2kCJEQTv/

    • Yes, I noticed after discovering Chandler was in several episodes. It's a shame it was canceled. I'm glad I was able to watch Chandler's episodes.
    • I'm Catholic, and I care, as do many who aren't Catholic. No need to be so nasty about it.. The whole episode was on Paramount Plus. That is where I watched it..
