OLTL: Discussion for the week October 11

Ford raped Jessica so its not her fault she doesnt know who her baby daddy is? I hate how EVERYTHING this bitch does gets excused and she never has to take responsibilty for any of it. All she has to do is pull the "Oh I was crazy" card and she gets an automatic free pass for everything. Its been like this for the past 10 years.

Natalie eats babies so it all balances out.

I will agree about the good directing. It reminds me of (last Feb's?) climax to the Mitch debacle. OLTL technically handles these types of stories well. And I'll admit even Carlivati can make them, at least on some level exciting. The problem is everything we sacrifice to character and story and common sense to get to these climaxes--and that there's NEVER any follow up.

WHY would Tea hide from someone coming up the stairs (Starr)? WHY would Starr lock herself in a random room instead of trying to even quietly get help from someone? WHY is the hospital even more deserted than the one in Halloween 2 (no, Natalie's brief comment--cuz suddenly she knows exactly about the financial state of Cherry Vale--does not count). Speaking of Halloween, why does Eli have even more strength and power, as he stumbles around, than Michael Myers did in those movies? How can Tea make it down all those stairs (last year I was hospitalized for about 2 weeks due to an aneurism--trust me, I couldn't make it down a flight of stairs upon my first few minutes of standing after being in a bed so long, after that).

Yes I know being a soap fan means suspending disbelief (I didn't complain about how fast they get back and forth to Cherry Vale, did I?), but there need to be enough things to hold onto as a fan. To me, despite good directing, it's all an epic fail--more so even than the Mitch climax. I assume by next Feb we'll see an even more disastrous example of a random psycho terrorising everyone who suddenly all end up at the same place by utter coincidence.

OK, but I thought Monday and Tuesday's shows were pretty good. (place shrug emoticon here)

What the hell happened to Addie? I loved her character but she upped and disappeared. When was the last time she was actually on?

My pet peeve with GH is there's never any fallout to the horrendous violence on that show.

I actually respected that Jared DIED last year as a result of Mitch's reign of terror and that his death had real impact on Charlie and Natalie's characters.

WHY would Tea hide from someone coming up the stairs (Starr)?

In Tea's defense, she's not in her right mind what with all the drugs, etc. Plus, I think she feared to run into any staff that may stop her like that idiot nurse who refuses to listen to her and keeps drugging her. Tea appeared to be heading for the ground floor to escape the clinic grounds. I don't think Tea was thinking past that goal though.

As for how she made it down the stairs at all, I thought FL and director did a good job showing it was a long slow climb down and she almost fell twice. She was staggering and holding onto railing pretty hard. I bought it as someone who hasn't walked in weeks.

Starr's actions? I got nothing to explain that bizarre behavior except plot contrivance.

I'm not a massive Hannah fan but I HATE HATE this "twist". Don't they realize, particularly with all the characters who have gone insane, that audiences might actually be MORE into watching someone turn their life around from that?? Or is it just me.

No it's not just you. Hannah and Eli are all getting the Skylar treatment, and yet this is coming from the same writer who penned Brody's redemption storyline after he went off the deep end. I actually do wonder with what we're seeing today on screen, if the same writers would have had Brody do some of the despicable things Hannah and Eli are doing if not for the fact that they saw a potential pairing with Jess. I know with Eli, as soon he was revealed to be a super villain, that he was a goner, but Hannah and Skylar both could have turned their lives around. Correction; Skylar's 360 is similar to what we're seeing now with Eli, so that's a different story entirely. With Ron, it's when in doubt, have a character go insane and take someone hostage.

Cult leaders, russian mobsters, heck even the Todd debacle with Marty; they have all seemingly been the same, and this whole Eli story is no different. Get some [!@#$%^&*] new material Ron. Umbrella storylines don't always have to equal hostage situations and kidnappings. How about a nice murder mystery, like who killed Todd?

ETA: Add Marcie's hostage situation in there as well.

I must've missed something from the previous episode. I last saw Starr run into Hannah, did Hannah somehow lock her and Hope up?

I'm assuming so but it's supposed to be a mystery.

The show has been moderately good lately, I've actually wanted to tune in every day. I had been taking a break, but it's holding my interest again.

And you're allowed ^_^ I said they kept my interest much more, but I feel like all this drama isn't earned--simply because it's exactly how I felt during the Mitch climax, etc--and I was so disappointed with both the build up, and the denoument to that--so I expect nothing less this time.

I'd even add the KAD murders there, even if Powell always had issues. It's really become tired IMHO--it's like we sit through several months of WTF storytelling all to serve some epic two-three weeks, that afterwards lead nowhere anyway...

I still scratch my head at them bringing back Powell and Zach after all those years, and then killed Powell off...Similarly to this Ross situation and I say this as a Todd fan.

So Hannah has a copy of Marcie's book "The Killing Club?" Interesting....

"Yeah I recognize the necklace. That's Hope's birthstone, and there's room for more children." Hmmm....
