One of the only things I liked about Brenda was that she never had much use for Jason and saw him as the brain dead thug he was. Then they had to ruin that, because everyone has to love Jason unless they're pure evil. So now we get to see Jason having flashbacks of her and all the forced nonsense piled on them in 2003.

LOL! Very true. It better work because this is GH's last card to play.

Yeah, it is probably easier for Guza to keep her off the canvas for awhile. I wonder who else among the supporting cast will have an unwilling long vaca.

Looking at the canvas, LL is the most obvious contract actor in danger. Guza clearly put Olivia's romance with Sonny on hold so that he could set up the romance with Brenda.

(Doing my Grace Adler dance): Told ya so! Told ya so!

There IS a bright side.

:( I love her!

Awww... Someone knows what this is gonna do to his homegirl that I hate with a passion!

Tee hee hee hee heeeeee!tongue.gif

And for that reason and that reason alone, I ADORE this Brenda-thon. Yeah, it screws over my other show, AMC, but I can take it on the chin if it means that Ally Rescot (don't wanna steal BC's Cassie Layne) gets her ass in check.

Okay, okay. Y'all keep laughin'!

I, honestly, would rather have had Claire gutted by Franco BEFORE this nonsense so we wouldn't have had these comparisons. It's gonna be sad for me watching Brenda put "THE" Claire Walsh in her place. :(

I stole Cassie Layne from Y&RWorldTurner, so credit goes to him for his renaming of "The Laura Wright Character."(© R Sinclair)

And if there's anything I am looking most forward to is Brenda putting Cassie/Ally/TLWC in her place. Can't wait.

And is it too much to hope that Lisa Lo will make her hair bright orange again like Jocelyn and befriend Brenda?

But it is all kind of tragic, isn't it?

Not only will they suffocate the other two in this "Brenda-thon", they will cut them to 4 episodes a weak.

It's like... So... I don't know what to say.

And one can't really care about any of these shows because it's like watching asylum people party.

LOL. As long as GH doesn't plummet to Y&R-like depths in the production realm I should be fine. I watch the show for the aesthetics first and everything else second, to be honest.

Sylph, I thought you'd be dancing on my "Claire Walsh is Love" grave, considering how gun-ho I've been about promoting Dahlia Salem and the Claire Walsh character to anyone within an earshot of me. You are surprisingly restrained. But I can fully, totally admit to feeling sad about Claire leaving GH, but even worse, leaving after Brenda has arrived. :(

I wonder if Vanessa Marcil will get "Special Guest Star" billing too or whether her shot will be the opener in the main titles?

Yeah. Overkill. To have on both SN and ABC.

ABC only for one day I can see. I mean. AMC, OLTL, and GH have been all kinda boring to me here lately anyways. One day of classic GH (90s early 2000s) is not going to irk me too much. The whole eppy does not revolve around her. And, I old episodes of soaps I haven't seen.

Of all of them (including SN's) I'm most looking forward to the 1994 eppy. GH was great in 94/95.

Awww, DP, you know I  you... But, even so, my joy over what Brender/VM's return will do to that horrid character... it can't be contained! WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!

Again, ABC and GH will shove Snarly aside! She'll be where LW's character needs to be -- with Ingo's Jax. Oops, wait! Jax might drop her for Brender, too! I mean, it's only fitting that Jax and Skye are circling around each other when it was Brender Jax dropped Skye for! So, sorry... LW's character might not even be in Jax's orbit . Although, I need to check myself, since Frons insists on showing Sonny/Brender shows, Carly might not get a total wipe out. He might put his second favorite back into a CarJacking.

    • I think Steve and Shawn track down Kevin and Jeffrey gives them one dose on the sly in exchange for keeping it quiet. John's organs will go to Bo. We know he's not really coming home. Xander won't make the board meeting so EJ will get the hospital by default. And Kate will tell Xander that Sarah lied to him precisely because she feared he would do something like this to Philip  Those are my Friday predictions! Was a good show. I felt Philip's fear in that last scene.

I guess Susan was necessary today, but I really wish she’d leave. Marlena putting EJ on blast about Belle was pretty good though, and I hope they continue to use Marlena in their storyline. I’m interested in seeing what happens to EJelle in the aftermath of the John storyline. And I really wish we were seeing Paul and Andrew moving in on John’s location. If they can’t get Christopher Sean on the show, they should at least try to get Colton Little.  I liked how smart Xander was today and that he immediately that Philip stole the drug. He did a pretty good job in his scenes where he confronted Philip as well. I also appreciate the way that Philip’s been written lately; more like a tragic hero than a bratty, goofy clown. Which is all the more reason that I hope the triangle with Stephanie and Alex is revived. But Xander did seem a little overly melodramatic in his last scene though And, I can’t help but think that Dr. Russell being so hesitant about involving the police in the drug theft could be a sign of something.
    • I haven’t watched since Daisy’s last episode. Part of me feels like its a good place to end it because outside of The Platt’s, Tracy, Todd, and Carla and Swain I haven’t really enjoyed the show. Too many depressing stories and irksome characters, I especially hate what they’re doing to Debbie. I do think its funny they spent all this time investing into that awful new family and apparently they’ve already been canned, feedback must have been horrid.
    • I think the pre-Barnabas episodes are very underrated both for dialogue and character. They're slow but they really create a world and fill out the characters, imbuing them with heavy dimension that ultimately will have to sustain them for years as the show largely stops writing for character after it returns from 1795. What we know about them by then is what they have to power them. (I don't think the show was bad after, I actually love it in '68 and often in times after that, but it was very different.) I think the B&W episodes with Barnabas' early days are especially frightening - they terrified me as a kid - but the color stuff in '67 is also very strong, especially in the stretch where Julia is on the run, Carolyn is under Barnabas' control, and you get the sense that events have gone off the rails for the regular characters and anything goes. As a child viewer seeing it in syndication on the Sci-Fi Channel, who had no idea who lived or who died, it was a lot. Mitch Ryan is especially powerful in the early pre-Barnabas era as the sort of Byronic Burke Devlin character. You knew they had to kill him once Barnabas comes in, despite Ryan's alcohol problem making it impossible to keep him at the show - Burke dominates the first year or so as the fulcrum character, he's incredibly magnetic and charismatic. You couldn't see him becoming a dupe for Barnabas and Julia, as Anthony George's more benign, mild version briefly does before getting unceremoniously killed off. I always found Burke's offscreen plane crash death very eerie and suspicious, and I think the show does toy with the question if Barnabas' powers somehow got him on that plane and if he took it down. I had always wanted Burke to return one day, in any revival project, as a kind of vengeful power broker and puppet master, driven by Vicki's inevitable demise to get revenge on Barnabas and co. I still have Art Wallace's "Shadows on the Wall" DS bible somewhere. IIRC in the earliest versions of the plot Vicki was going to somehow be tied to the butler or his daughter - Betty Hanscomb or something. I don't remember the exact details. I do know there's all sorts of raised and dropped plotlines and characters offscreen in '66, like Ned Calder, the man they clearly intended to pair with Liz and so on. I've always found '66 very rich, but I don't begrudge the show after for it because it's still awfully well-written, specifically the early Barnabas stuff.
    • I totally agree with this, as most of you seem to. Mary Carney was at least competent and reasonably likable; I just feel like she barely had anything of substance to do before she was abruptly given the hook. And I get the backstory of Kathleen Tolan having done a play with Helen Gallagher, but...at any point did they ever actually READ her before they greenlit her? Because...OOF. First time I saw her on SoapNet was right when this GODAWFUL actress named Charity Rahmer played Belle on Days of Our Lives for all of three weeks before she was mercifully recast; her line readings were straight out of a Charlie Brown special. I remember thinking Kathleen Tolan could have played her mother! In the Frank/Jill/Delia triangle, Delia WAS the one who was cheated on, so I got why she was upset and thought it was perfectly valid in theory at least, but of course it was blown up to Wagnerian proportions including falls involving staircases and tricycles. But with Pat/Faith/Delia I had no sympathy for her...especially because it was mainly with Catherine Hicks's Faith and I really liked her.
    • I was going through those episodes from 1984 and early 1985 before they were taken down. Some of the older characters, like Don and even Tom, looked a little out of place, like they were on the wrong show. But the newer characters were fun. It's too bad they lost the character of Melissa. I guess Jennifer took her long-term place on the canvas.
