Adding to this, a tabloid from around the time Jane Eliot joined The City claims that Emma Samms had been in talks to have Holly on The City, and she might move back to GH instead (which would happen about 10 years later...).

Originally, it was rumored that when B&B first went into production back in 1987, Mitchell Ryan (ex-Burke Devlin, DARK SHADOWS; ex-Alex Hunter, AMC; ex-Frank Ryan, GH) was considered for Eric, Constance Towers (Helena, GH; ex-Julianna, SB; ex-Clarissa, CAPITOL) (fresh from her Clarissa McCandless gig on CAPITOL) was considered for Stephanie, John McCook (his then-dark Black hair made him young enough to be in contention for Ridge, but not old enough to play the silver haired patriarch Eric Forrester) (Eric, B&B) was considered for Ridge, and Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge, B&B) was considered for Thorne.

Dan McVicar (Clarke, B&B) tested for Ridge, and Susan Flannery (ex-Stephanie, B&B) beat out other contenders like Susan Seaforth Hayes, Jane Elliott, and Jamie Lyn Bauer for the role of Stephanie.

On the one hand, Julie Benz would have been more age-appropriate as Kendall.  But, on the other hand, unless she had been willing to become a brunette, she would have looked all wrong as Erica Kane and Richard Fields' offspring.

I was reading a Soap Opera Weekly from late 1991 or early 1992, and they mention the cop who was supposed to be a love interest for Andrew and lasted for about 5 minutes (her name was Maggie). They said that Saundra Santiago was originally cast as Maggie, but once she was told it would run longer than 4 episodes, she left. What I was trying to figure out is if she aired for those 4 days or if she was never onscreen at all.

It's nice to know that Sandra was a part of OLTL in bizarre circumstances for 3 consecutive decades.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of Murder, She Wrote was October 23, 1987 (Tough Love). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show was February 22, 1985 (Shattered Dreams).
