For a long time I really disliked Carole because she was so nasty to Luann. She didn't like that Lu referred to Adam as 'Sonja young' but hey. The truth hurts! Carole always thought she was miles better than the other women. She was more than happy to watch Bethenny go Cujo on Luann, Jules, Sonja, etc., until it got turned on her.

Having said all that (!) Carole should have returned with Heather this season IMO! No more B to gaslight her. She and Heather would have balanced out the Leah/OG crazy.

ETA: Has anyone noticed that in Luann's talking head this season, you can clearly see Tom's penthouse behind her?

Hey y'all I'm back, did you miss me? (LOL, doing my best Carolyn Hinsey from Soap Opera Digest impression). Ooh Lordy, been swamped at work, then went on vacation, then came back to more work. No time to catch up on my favorite thread

I'm loving the discussions here so I'll just add my +1's to certain points in particular....

NJ Reunion: I do think Jennifer had some great and funny moments. However, at times she goes for the jugular and is just nasty to be nasty. She's trying to be this 4th wall breaker, showing us viewers what "really" happens (i.e. Melissa's fake storylines; Marge being the source of the Evan secret, which fell flat.). That said, she has given us more than I ever expected from her, as she was so unlikable in her first year. And I love her family dynamic. So overall, she gets top reviews.  I really didn't mind the Marge/Melissa/Jackie alliance. I didn't find them to be "evil" or nefarious or anything, but rather friends sticking up for one another, as so many housewives do during contentious arguments (see: Beverly Hills cast the last two seasons; see: NYC Season 4 reunion)

Beverly Hills:  Oh yes, we hate to love this show, but it's bringing it this year. And Garcelle is BOSS. I've loved these first few episodes, with Garcelle as the Greek Chorus. She is so effortless and I am loving her presence. Added bonus: Kyle and Rinna, two wannabee queens are terrified of her. They're probably secretly afraid Black Twitter will come for their asses if they say anything out of line. I love seeing Garcelle take Rinna to task for being a sh-t friend and a sh-t person in general.

I love production's shade towards Erotika. This pretty mess of a scandal will be delicious to watch unfold.

@Cat You got that right about Dorit - is she the new Terri DeMarco? A non-motherf*cking factor?  (Side note: a big NO to Evelyn Lozada joining!) Perhaps she'll cause a stir when she questions Erika's involvement in the Tom fiasco.

@DaytimeFan I'm with you on newbie Crystal. We barely know her yet and she's coming too hard too fast on Sutton. I guess she took notes and thought she has to jump right into the mix in order to make a splash, but it comes off as Mean Girlish. Hoping to get in good with the Coven?

Sutton is the resident basket case this season I guess. She was giving me Shannon Beador vibes on this past week's episode. Pull it together girl, and I hope your buddy Garcelle gives you a lesson on your white privilege.

Kathy freaking Hilton! I am living for her! OMG, by far the BEST of the Richards sisters! Once again, Kyle is overshadowed, LOL. Kathy is so quirky and funny and gives no effs and I enjoy every minute of her. LOL at her looking directly at the camera and saying she can't see anything.

New York: I am *not* looking forward to seeing the return of Season Four LuAnn. I haven't watched this week's episode yet. We've seen her grow and evolve over the years, so regressing to her classist ways is not something I want to see.

Re: Leah. Yes, these episodes have shown just how desperate she is to have her moments and be the star, and she looks like a total jackass. LOL at her Vow of Silence being cut short because no one gave a fig (in fact, they were probably grateful she was quiet).  I love seeing the return of Heather and she took Leah/Luann's interogation in stride and was so matter-of-fact, owning what she said and explaining why she said it. 'Tis a pity she decided to bow out of the show (thanks, "woke" Leah).

Sonja's drunken outbursts are half funny and half sad. She needs help financially and mentally. She is so stuck in the past, it's slowly killing her inside. I still enjoy her and think she's probably the most genuine of the NYC OG's (okay, she came in S3), but she has serious issues that's harming no one but herself.

Potomac: Yaaaaaaaaass! So glad Bravo is cranking this show out so early!  RHOC who?   Team Grande Dame/Ashley.  I love seeing two former enemies become so tight now. I was howling at them as they both watched an episode of RHOA some months back to do commentary. Karen & Ashley bounce off each other very well.  Meanwhile, I'm happy to see anyone come for Gizelle, even crusty ol' Dr. Wendy.  And I see Candyass has learned nothing from her altercation with Monique. Who's the real Hood Rat?

That's all for now!

Hey You!!!

Your Carolyn Hinsey reference took me BACK! Remember when SOD fired her ass because she a considered a truly awful human being with serious anger management issues and a host of NDAs? Good times!

Couldn't agree more with everything you wrote. You returned from work/life/vacation at the perfect moment. BH and NY are starting to pick up speed, and I can hear Potomac revving up around the corner...

That's exactly what it is, and in that, she really is not so different from Sonja.

The Count gave her a privileged lifestyle and, more importantly, aristocratic status which she misses and has been unable replicate post-divorce. She thought Tom was going to give her that UES life again, but we all know what happened with that.

I think the Ghislaine Maxwell connection means we are not going to ever see Carole again on TV, Bethanny or not.
Fairly or not, I don't know but that's way too radioactive.

Not a great look -- but technically it was said while inebriated and in handcuffs. Sometimes we babble stupid sh!t when we're drunk. I don't think Luann had any intention of killing the officer, or anybody for that matter. But I'm also aware non-famous people have been gunned down for less.

This is a good start. Heather Dubrow will eat Braunwyn for breakfast. Speaking of Brown Wind, Bravo should really consider letting her, Kelly Dodd and Elizabeth Vargas go. I wouldn't mind Tamra and Heather skewering BW's contrived pretentious posing, though, before despatching her. BTW, I'm still bummed we got no 'It was great but time to go' post from the Rage Monster.

Basically, Bravo needs to let OC rest longer and make some astute choices before they rush into filming. But they won't.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Vicki back. I know that's controversial, and she's probably on Bravo's No Hire blacklist anyway.

I forgot about the Ghislaine connection (Side note: maybe this is why we don't see George Clooney in many movies anymore? He seemed to like dating escort girls once upon a time). So is this why Carole was not asked back but Heather was? I just assumed it's because Carole and Andy Cohen fell out because he had Bethenny's back during S10 reunion.

From what I'm aware of those who get drunk (as I don't drink) it relieves your inhibitions, but, did the cop really know she wouldn't kill him? It doesn't excuse her threatening someone.

Dubrow would give us more iconic moments, like defiled cake, etc. I liked Braunwyn her first season (what I saw of it), but, from the clips I saw of her second go-round,  she was different.

Honestly, I do think it's too early for Orange County to begin production again... but, am interested in seeing the decision Bravo makes, and am hoping they do shake things up effectively.

Meh. Vicki got her casserole, so her time was done.

I'm glad to hear they're trying to lure back Tamra and Heather. Tamra is a necessary evil on this franchise, and the fact that she still had so many connections to last season's drama proves they were unwise to cut her loose. Heather is a delicious ice queen, similar to SLC's Lisa Barlow. I forget why Jeff Lewis hates her, but she brings good drama, whether she's in a supporting role or a lead.

What's the tea on OC otherwise? I thought Braunwyn already announced her departure.

Jeff Lewis hates Heather because he is up Shannon's ass. I wasn't crazy about Heather by the time she left but, in hindsight, she was 100% right about Kelly. Since she left, RHOC has struggled to find its footing, and I think she is long overdue a return.

ETA: With the exception of Heather Dubrow, they're all kind of morphing into the same blonde (pic below)!

This reminds me of @Cheap21 opening post on this thread 157 years ago: "Couldnt get into the Orange County. Too many blondes and fake boobs."

I think the latter is indeed the most immediate reason. Even without Maxwell, I don't think Cohen OR Carole would be interested anyway

But the Maxwell thing is why it is neither in their nor in HER interest for her to be in the public spotlight at all. So we can be sure that even if they reconciled - and it has happened with others who left bitterly - I doubt she'd be back on-screen.

As for Clooney, his slowing career predates the Epstein stuff
He had stopped taking on almost any projects from a while back - around time he got married, I'd say. Why would he? He is rich, happy. Lives in Europe. Never got the vibe from him that acting was in his blood the way some other actors give the vibe they want to keep working until their last breath.
He just lives la dolce vita.

One other side note, because now I've re-read 1993-1994.  I think that I found a ret-con issue. In 1993 after John finds out the Stefano is Kristen's father. It is not like I am claiming to have found nuclear fission, clearly mistakes happen.  But, I found this to be amusing. In 1993, Stefano becomes deadly ill, so Kristen tells John that she needs to be by her father's side, but not to worry about the deadly disease, because she's adopted.  Given, that I've always thought of Kristen as being adopted, until the more recent cannon that she is Stefano's biological child, it is interesting that in 1993, the week before Tony comes to town to announce that he is Kristen's fiancée.  Kristen is saying that she can't give blood to her dying father, because she was adopted.  So, the current reverse in cannon, neglects that detail. It is so funny to read this and then see Kristen and Tony in the crypt this week, 32 years later.  That's more than half the show's history at this point, amazing.
    • It was shuffled off the stove way before that. Think of the early summer stuff with Gio, Emma, and Dalton, which they basically dropped for weeks at a time, and then also put them on the back burner until recently.

    • After the slap it does feel inevitable - being arrested and thrown out right after her big win.
    • Yesterday it was Theo and Jada.  Today it's Chad and Belle.  What a mess.
    • I asked my soap historian GPT to help pull together the best available sources on Daniel Pilon’s run, and here’s what the research confirms: * Pilon played Max Dubujak on *Ryan’s Hope* from 1983–88. * He began appearing as Alan Spaulding on *Guiding Light* in 1988. * An academic source notes that he appeared as **Max and Alan simultaneously in November 1988 * His later-life interviews mention major upheavals, including losing his home in the Northridge earthquake and declaring bankruptcy in 1994.  That’s the factual foundation. Now for the human side of it. I’ll admit Pilon was never my favorite Alan. The Spauldings are supposed to have that patrician, Midwestern money vibe, and suddenly here comes this very European-sounding gentleman sweeping into Springfield like he wandered in from a different soap entirely. It created a strange tonal shift, at least in my memory. Whether he was intended to be temporary is hard to pin down, but honestly, looking at what he was dealing with in his real life, I don’t know that the show ever had a truly stable window to figure it out. He was going through marital strife, while being talked about as the "next James Bond" back in Canada, and juggling work on two soaps at once is a lot. Under those circumstances, the question of whether he was the “right” type for Alan becomes almost secondary to the fact that he was working through multiple emergencies while stepping into one of GL’s biggest roles. So for me, the story of his Alan isn’t just about casting fit. It’s about an actor navigating chaos and the show adapting on the fly. Also, the proverbial soap hill that I would defend its honor, is that Ron Raines in the final week was so amazing, that for me, it erases all prior memories of his performance.
    • I wish Nicole had swallowed but it is what it is lol
    • You're probably right, but it's such a mistake to have Dani return to Bill. I do not want that. I like Bill, but that's probably because he's so much better than his garbage wife. Having Dani take back the guy who NEVER stopped cheating on her during their marriage would be a terrible mistake.  Yes, it's a mistake I can see Dani making. That doesn't mean I want to see it.
