The more I see of her, the more excited I am to see her dive in with the ladies. Her melanin and cultural background aside, there hasn’t been a HW on RHONY quite with her vibe. I’m sure there’s some neuroticism we’ll see emerge.

And I don’t take kindly to hazing either.

RHONJ:

Imagine being called 'ruined' and 'broken' by the needy little dude. Joe Gorga did WAY too much. I hate that he termed Frank's cheating "doing his thing," and yet Dolores is the one 'ruined'? WTF is that? I will give Frank credit -- he was the only one standing for Dolores (while munching on all the appetizers). Everybody just stood there smirking at her. I've always been Team Dolores but even more so now.

Melissa -- this fool. I cringe every time we get another acting scene from her. This time it was playing drunk with Teresa and heckling Dolores. She was all-in on seeing Dolores get humiliated, as she has been all season.

Also, Melissa is a beautiful woman, but does JLo know she has stolen her look the past 15 years?

Also, also: I worry about Melissa' ultra-pulled-back hair. That is the fast-track to a receding hairline.

Crazy how this SL disappeared without a trace after Teresa forced out a gritted teeth apology. Jackie seemed exceptionally shook and relieved not to have Teresa go against her and the group choosing Tre over Jackie (which they would have).

She did astutely point out that Joe was probably trying to target Melissa, not Dolores. But yeah, Evan got more screen time this episode than she did.

I wonder how reunion went and whether she pulled her punches regarding Teresa. Because if she did... she may be ready to leave. Last week she was on WWHL, and a Zoom viewer treated her like sh!t. It was really awful to watch, in fact, and I felt bad for Jackie because there was no need to get so nasty with her. I wondered whether she figured the show is not worth that kind of abuse.

omg!!! I LOVED HER WHOOOOLE VIBE.

Can't wait to see her next week.

I am also happy to see her and LuAnn iron out their issues.

So...Heather might have been assaulted by Leah? Not that she said anyone by name. Interesting...

Early reports...which does not seem like it was much...was that her and Teresa were at it again.

From what little I've seen of Heather (I promise I will be going back and binge out NY eventually

), I love her so I'm sorry that it sounds like something bad happened that she won't be back. I read an article with her and I respect that she felt like @Cheap21 and I was discussing yesterday about NJ's Michelle...why be on a show that could potentially hurt your business if it was too messy.

Speaking of messy...

POTOMAC

Monique dropped her first really big binder reveal. And that was...riddles within riddles. Though I loved she dragged Pastor Holy Whore and Gizelle. Still cannot figure out what it all means...

...until this morning. I'm getting ready for work and listening to ABTA's video from yesterday where apparently there was some potential drama between Pastor Holy Whore and Gizelle. And they told off on Gizelle's backstory and WOW...that is a doozy. I don't recall them touching on any of that in POTOMAC's first two seasons.

And honestly, I feel sorry for her. No wonder her dad does not like the Pastor. But...she still married him so...?

However, NOW what Monique said in her latest video makes sense. So...WOW.

I feel sorry for her, too, hearing that story. And now more than ever -- I will never understand how Gizelle keeps sticking with this charlatan! There must come a point when even the sex isn't worth it.

She comes from black political pedigree, and those pics from her Howard University days show how beautiful she was. I'm sure the pastor was dashing in his day, but judging by what I've seen on RHOP, he is an expert gaslighter and way too enamoured with the sound of his own voice. She seems smart and even cynical so -- why keep casting her lot with him? And don't say 'It's for my girls' -- they don't seem to tolerate him much, either.

Well, I look forward to Leah's second season curse because I'm already annoyed by her just by the promos.

Agreed. I felt bad for her. That was too much and lil Joey needed to shut his trap.

100%  And if there's physical assault involved, it's no wonder Leah is trying to cover her ass before it hits the airwaves.

OK I have established I liked Giz so maybe I am biased but that's why I never quite understood why Monique's receipts were supposed to be shade at Gizelle. If any of it is true then Gizelle is the victim and it makes me feel sorry for her, not hate her.

Ironically, many blind items in the months before the season she announced she got back with him had hinted that the reason Gizelle "got back" with him was 1) she did not really but she made a deal with him because 2) because she needed a storyline and he needed a reputation laundering.
I always expected THAT to be the T Monique was going for because it would kind of make sense and it would be embarrassing if she alleged it was all false for the cameras. But "Gizelle is an idiot for taking this cheater back" is not the embarrassing shade Monique seems to think it is.
Now we know why Monique is pressed. I will grant you Gizelle should have simply said she didn't want to film with Monique anymore after what had happened - which would have been fair - instead of her stupid (see, I am not that biased!) comment about how "as a pastor's wife" she can't be associated with Monique and her behavior.
But, man, if the response to that is to STILL be litigating Gizelle's husband's infidelities something like a year later, Monique, girl, take a breath and move on.

Yeah when I was listening to the video today, I was thinking of those very pictures you posted a while back and how she was so young, beautiful, and alive. And given what Pastor Holy Whore did...yeah wow. It really made me question how she got from Season 1 where she was an early favorite to the bitter person she is now.

Chris Samuels was right. Hurt people indeed hurt people.

Same. That really explains a lot, too. Heather had not said ANYTHING before Leah did. Classy.

So second season curse about to strike again.

SMH.

I didn't post that; I think Faulkner did? But yes, that photo made her look like a 1950s movie star. So much potential, having attended one of the finest HBCUs in the country.... and she throws her lot behind a two-bit pastor who preaches discredited 'prosperity theology' ? I don't understand it.

It reminds me of S3 when Karen was going through her travails  Gizelle showed her little empathy.  Now there may have been reasons for that we don't know about. But knowing now that she suffered a mental breakdown once, it makes me wonder if she never came to terms with that, views it as some sort of flaw or weakness that should never be mentioned. And maybe that's why she was unable to show Karen much grace. To this day, I'm not sure Karen has forgiven Gizelle for that season.

    • It just does not feel like Y&R anymore, even if a lot of the actors are familiar. It's just... completely lost, and I've never not felt it couldn't be turned around until now and the past few years. Stunt castings (Colleen Zenk) do not remedy the mess. At all. The focus is all wrong; there is no focus. None at all.
    • 1) Ross and Alan had a history aside from Phillip. In the early '80's Alan torpedoes Ross' campaign for DA in retribution for Trish Lewis leaving him and falling for Ross. Ross then assisted Alex in kicking Alan out of Spaulding. Then in the late '80's, Vanessa and Ross break up over her working at Spaulding with Alan, and she's briefly engaged to Alan. Then Alan shot Phillip accidently, and well....you get (part) of the picture. I do not think Ross really initially held Alan adopting Phillip against him. Jackie had lied to Justin and had the baby in secret.  Jackie discovered Justin had had an affair and divorced him. When she came to town, she actually ended up marrying Alan to be close to Phillip. Jackie and Justin eventually remarried and had a daughter named Sam. Jackie dies, and Justin leaves town about a year later. Justin makes a brief return, but it's mostly tied to Sam and then Phillip leaves in '91. Justin leaves town again.  Rick and Phillip patch up their friendship, although there are some other rough patches. 2) No, Rick and Fletch generally got along. But I don't recall them interacting much afterward either after the divorce. Meredith had left of her own accord, and Fletch and Rick drifted into other stories.
    • Has Sonny been a mobster since Guza? Yes, he has. Back then was he portrayed somehow as a good man, righteous? No, he was not.  Now, fly through time. Sonny has been credited with taking care of Stone & then Robin. Before you could turn around twice & shout! Sonny donated enough money to build a wing of the hospital in honor of Stone. IMO Mulcahey was on the right track. Maybe that lead to this? We may thank him yet.
    • I totally agree and that's why I wish they had played up Mary's connection to Reginald because I think Alexander had more chemistry with Considine. They never explored her backstory and just thought Mary belonged back with her family. I think a better story would be if she rejected Vince and wanted to stay with Reginald. I know we've litigated Reginald's character, but I wish they had played it that way because it would have kept the Loves and the McKinnons connected beyond just Vicky and Jake.

    • I just saw this old-ish quote from Jane Krakowski, mentioning the circus story as a worst (she said it was a ratings grab) along with the flood. She also mentioned that the reason her character was called TR is because they didn't come up with a name for her - it stood for "The Runaway." https://www.soapcentral.com/soapcentral/news/2017/0629-jane_krakowski_search_for_tomorrow.php What was TR's exit, anyway? She left before the show ended and then returned for the finale, right? Did she ever have love again after Ryder? This is John Mahoney around five minutes, right? I never knew he was on a soap.

I sometimes wondered why Evie was recast. I get why now. I've always had a soft spot for Colleen Dion, but she is very, very green here.
    • Mary Carney was the best of the Mary recasts. I think everyone I've seen talk about the show has said this, or almost everyone. The show just gave up too quickly. I agree the story was over. I don't think the show ever developed Mary's career enough to make viewers care about that aspect. I remember reading an interview with Ilene Kristen where she talked about how much support she got from viewers with Jill and Frank (I think it was from around then). I don't know if Roger/Delia was always the plan (wasn't he interested in Mary early on?) but I sometimes think they threw that together to try to make viewers feel Delia had no moral high ground. Frank was an interesting construct as a man who looked like the ideal politician yet behaved...like a typical politician. I think that's why he mostly took off once they cast Daniel Hugh Kelly, who fit the duality.
    • Yes and no. If they had wanted to recast Phillip, then no, he didn't need to return. There were already too many recast Spauldings at this point. Regardless of how you feel about Dusay, Raines or Poser, I think the viewers had trouble connecting to them. I think the viewers loved Rick Hearst, and yes, if he had stayed, then you could've built around him. But with a lackluster Michael Dietz soon to appear, Grant Aleksander anchored the family. Reva--pfft. Yes, she could've stayed gone. I'm unsure what the early reception to Josh/Annie was, but I thought RN and CW had good chemistry. Reva had been gone a while at this point, the audience would've accepted anyone who was good to Josh's children.
    • Phillip and Rick became BEST friends when they first SORASed the characters.  They had been at the same boarding school and came back together to finish high school. That's when they met Mindy and Beth. The four of them were together a lot and called themselved The Four Musketeers. Initially, Phillip/Mindy and Rick/Beth were paired up until Phillip fell in love with Beth.
    • LaGuardia, R. (1974b). The wonderful world of TV soap operas. ISBN-13 ISBN-13 978-0345272836 It took Harding “Pete” Lemay, however, a skilled playwright who thoroughly believed in the heretofore unexplained psychological potential of the daytime serial, to transform Mrs. Nixon’s love-triangle subplot into a balanced story contrasting realistic human behavior and that “other world of fantasy and striving. He found story devices no longer necessary.” For example, Lemay said, “I didn’t feel it was necessary to keep Rachel a black-and-white character. I didn’t see her as a villainess… I saw her instead as a human being who had always had bad breaks and who defeats herself because she is so used to failure. When she lost Steve this last time, I wanted the audience to feel her pain as I felt it. I wanted them to feel her tears. Mr. Lemay, along with his producer, Paul Rauch, should be given an Award for the Greatest Contribution to Daytime Serials, for completely eliminating melodramatic cliche’s in a daytime drama, and for their invaluable demonstration that, what viewers really want is drama based on psychology rather than on escapist melodrama. Under Lemay and Rauch “Another World”, which had previously used many tried-and-true soap opera devices (although fewer than most other shows), got rid of them, employed inward writing, and became one of the top two or three daytime television shows. About the only happy event in “Another World” was the birth of Ada’s daughter, Nancy, named after Ada’s dear friend on her deathbed Nancy Wickwire.   Edit to add: Emphasis on "dear friend". Should be changed to "special friend".
