If ever a thread title made me do a double take...

That's awesome. I know how he feels, if you put me at a dinner table with Barack Obama and Susan Lucci, it wouldn't be Mr. President who had me all tongue tied and sweaty palmed. :P

I was shocked too that he singled her out! How awesome would it be if after 40 years, La Lucci got a shot at a movie career!? It's all wishful thinking. But maybe at the very least Lee Daniels can guest direct an episode of All My Children a la James Franco on GH.

I thought Precious was overwrought and shamelessly manipulative, but very soapy in that way. I think it would be lovely to see Daniels, who seems to really understand the ins and outs of soap, to elevate La Lucci like that.

That's hot! I'd love to see her do something in addition to AMC. Though, she'd need the right cast/leading man to make her acting better. Susan is a decent actress, but there are people she does better with on AMC then others, and I think the same would hold true for a movie. I'd be all over that though, I love her.

Interesting concept (La Lucci in films), but what kind of role(s) would she excel at? It's not as if anyone's clamoring for another sequel to "Gone with the Wind."

EXCELLENT question. :D It makes me wonder though about what she might try her hand at acting-wise after AMC. Too bad Nip/Tuck's been cancelled, she would have been perfect for a guest spot now that AMC's in L.A. But I think she just might dress down for an Oscar baity role in an Indie flick if ever such an opportunity came up. "Johnny, it's Nay-Nay. Well have you got any? Crack! What else? Johnny please, Johnny I'll... I'll su..." /"ANNNNNND THANK YOU for comin' in Miss Lucci, we'll let you know!" :P

I don't see La Lucci in a lead role in a film either. I could see her doing a really strong supporting role.

Stranger things have happened, indeed, and the Oscars like to award "comebacks" and "unorthodox" performances and performers. Positive word of mouth and generating buzz for your work goes a long way in securing an Oscar nod.

Here's the interview with Lee Daniels:

Exactly. In order for Looch to be mentioned (without laughter), she'd have to build up "indie cred" first, and give an amazing performance in some straight-to-Sundance picture that would make the entire film industry sit up and take notice. And while I'm the last one to poo-pooh anyone's acting skills, somehow, I can't see Susan Lucci as a white-trash grandmother raising her three grandkids while working at a roadside diner in Arizona, being romanced by Dennis Hopper or Peter Fonda.

    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.
