Crystal Chappell was awful wailing over shooting Melanie. Ugh. I'm not liking Days much these days. I want movement on Sydney's kidnapping.

Count me in the group that thinks Chappell has been an over the top hot mess on DAYS. It's strange, she was quite good on GL and helped carry some down right atrocious material on that show for years. She seems so overblown on DAYS.

I also think the show has lost serious momentum since the baby switch ended. I've realized that most, if not all, of the supporting stories were quite weak and just not interesting to me. A bit movement in Sydney's kidnapping would be nice, too. DAYS has felt a bit stiff and aimless since the baby switch ended. I have no interest in Phillip/Melanie/Stephanie/Nathan, and I think Carly's return has sucked so far. Though, Vivian is always a hoot, as are Kate and Stefano. I haven't really cared about Bope's problems and or the way Bo and Carly slept together.

For me it´s just opposite. I was getting tired with the babyswitch and EJ/Sami/Rafe/(Nicol) saga and I´m glad it was moved on "B" position. And I think the Carly/Mel story and everything connected to it was really wonderfully developed and carefully planned and now when it all comes together it gives the show a lot of material to play. And the babyswitch was very serious story, this Carly story has Vivian, Victor, Kate and of course Mel who are all written as very entertaining and sometime openly comic characters so the show´s mood is lighter as well. I like that.

As for Carly today, I think she was good. I didn´t see her near hysteric as overtop, but maybe I´m just used to the overall theatric of DAYS.

I felt the baby switch was a high stakes kind of a story, and it was developed well and meticulously plotted. It also helped that I had sympathy for Nichole, despite the crap she was pulling (I can't say that about too many other soap opera baby stealers).

I do think it hurt the show in a way though, because the supporting stories weren't as strong or given as much development or attention to while the baby switch went on and on and on. When the baby switch ended, there was a host of half baked stories that came on the frontburner, or stories I just had no real interest in, as I mentioned above. I have not been feeling Carly at all or her return.

Just finished watching DAYS, OMG! I thought CC did Fantastic! The only part I didn't like was where she was like, "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" after she shot Melanie, that was kind of out there. But everything after that...I thought she was *Amazing*! Bravo! Philip was horrible in the last scenes though, I think. I Loved Carly telling everyone at the end that Mel was her daughter! This episode went strangely quick for me...usually I think DAYS is so slow and draggy, but..

It was only pre-empted yesterday, due to the Olympics. It aired regularly for me in the West coast, should have for everyone else...although I did read someone saying that their Cable service had DAYS airing one hour earlier in the East and then the Olympics, after.

I might be in the minority here, but I am still loving this show. It's just this weird blend of old-fashioned soap storytelling (actually taking time to do the scenes like today's with Maggie and Victor, Lexie and Abe, etc) and completely batshit JER-style antics, but without dragging things out and making all the characters seem brain-damaged. "I SHOT MY OWN DAUGHTER!!!" was so delightfully campy and ridiculous, but the stakes are high and it's so intense.

Did DAYS have a promo of this? An "I shot my own daughter!" promo wouldn've been awesome like GH's "Sonny, you shot your own son!" promo.

And it was so stupid that Melanie jumped in front of Vivian - like Mel cares enough to do that? LOL

But you know what, I enjoyed today's episode. It was so bad, it was good.

I'm glad the truth's finally out. Now, where do we go from here? I'm just wondering because I don't see the vision of this storyline.

As campy as that scene might've been, I have to say, DAYS is still smart these, well, days for sticking with the basics. The more convoluted stuff that we've been used to on this show only works if you have a cast seasoned enough to make it work. Otherwise, what's already confusing comes across as downright incomprehensible.

Before I say this, this is not just me picking you out and coming out just to defend the show. Just offering my perspective. I don't think she jumped in front of her. It's not like she yelled out Vivian's name and leaned out in front of her. She was startled and a bit confused when Carly pulled out the gun and kind of just turned and ended up in the line of fire.

I will just leave it at that since the vision of all this has been lost on you since day one (and I can recall the vision of the baby switch was lost on you until around the Nicole/EJ wedding which is when Days seemed to hook you) . I actually think the show is better now that the baby switch is over. It relied on one main story for way too long and now it's got a few. No doubt the Sydney stuff is being held back until Nicole returns and then we will likely see a balance between Rafe/Sami/EJ/Nicole/Brady/Arianna and Justin/Hope/Bo/Carly/Vivian/Victor/Kate/Stefano/Melanie/etc.
